OK. I am looking to plan a honeymoon for next August. We are hoping to go for 2 weeks (from Seattle, WA), although, due to our budget we may have to cut it a couple days short...

We do not scuba dive (well, I do, but my fiancee doesn't, so there won't be any scuba diving on this trip), but we do like to snorkel. We are primarily interested in R & R. We are not looking for a party resort as we do not want that type of vacation, but we would liek to enjoy an afternoon drink in the sun, or at a bar where we could watch the sunset. We like to go out to eat, so we do not want to spend the entire time at a private island resort, although we would be open to a week there and a week somewhere else. Our budget is $8,000 (but that includes airfare which will run about $1,000 a pop I would assume.

Any advice people can give would be great. How are the Sheraton resorts on the main island? Although I am not completely keen on the idea of going to stay at an American reosrt, it looks like the best option near Nadi, which I assume is our best bet for being able to go out to eat...

Yes, I know the Yasawa group is beautiful, but it looks a little out our price range.

I'd recommend either Navini or Tokoriki for islands. You mght like to also look at Botaira which I haven't stayed at but there was a review posted here a while ago which a search should find. Eating out in Nadi is limited and not particularly exciting. The Sheraton resorts, are, in my opinion, over priced and pretty ordinary. There is some apartment accomodation in the same Denarua area, I think it's called Watermark and this might offer better value.

I just returned from a phenominal honeymoon in Fiji. We spent two nights at First Landing Resort near Nadi, followed by 5 nights at Namale Resort on Vanua Levu, and then 3 more nights at First Landing. We had a beach bure @ Namale and I can assure you that there are not many if any more romantic spots anywhere. First Landing has excellent food, but the beach wasn't quite what I had hoped and it wasn't much of a honeymoon place. There are however some excellent resorts just a short boat ride from Nadi in the Mamanucas. I was unimpressed w/ the Sheraton. Our trip was under $8000, but we had to buy our food and drinks @ First Landing. All in all we spent probably $9500-10,000, but we bought alot of souvenirs and lived it up while we were there. Any advice I would be glad to give you. A guy from San Diego gave me some and it helped alot. Oh yeah, you actually probably will want to stay at a resort most of the time, b/c there isn't much of a social scene in Fiji. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Hi, I would recommend Maravu Plantation if you want two weeks. It includes meals and most activities and is a great place for your Honeymoon. It is not ocean front but beach is a short walk down their driveway and across a small road. see www.maravu.net.
If your budget can stretch or you can shorten the days, Qamea Resort & Spa is heavenly and worth the added $. A week runs about $7200 from LAX currently for next summer which is high season. see www.qamea.com.

Sorry, one more thing.
Stay away from the main island except for the last day or so. Not good for beaches but there are still lots of fun things to do (jet boat.snorkel trips.dinner cruises.white water rafting).
