Phuket Hotel with nice beach

We are planning another trip to Phuket in Feb. 2008. We will be staying for at least 1 week at the JW Marriott. We have another 3 days that can be added to that stay but I am considering trying something new. Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel that is nice like the JW but with perhaps a better beach. Our budget is up to $300 per night. Should we just stay 10 days at the JW?

I wouldn't move for 3 days...but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to changing hotels. February will be high season, and $300.00 isn't enough of a budget for somewhere like the Aman or Trisara...which I might move for...so I'd stay put.

I would move for 3 days. We did exactly that in November. 3 days at one hotel and 3 at another. It gave some added interest and changed perspective. Each beach is different.

With $300, you could look at Mom Tri's Boathouse or Mom tri's Villas. They are in Kata Beach towards the southern end of the west side of Phuket.

I would also suggest Mom Tri's Villa Royale, but you should also check out the Kata Thani Resort on Kata Noi Beach. Mom Tri's villas do not have a beachfront location. The location is on a rocky outcropping (which is really beautiful). You must walk down a wooden stairway to Kata Noi beach, which is not difficult to do... but at the bottom of the stairway you will find the Kata Thani. It's a really lovely resort! I've stayed at both Mom Tri's Villa Royale and the Kata Thani.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think we will stay put at the JW. We plan to take a tour with Limestone and a do a John Gray tour. This should allow us to see enough nice beaches.
