which airline? most are e-ticket, but you still have to go to the counter. only royal silk members can use the e-ticket machine in Thai Airways. The luxary of e-ticket is not the machine, just that you don't need to carry around a paper ticket.

Thanks!
It is Thai Airways.
Just wanted to know if we might run into problems. Appreciate the response!
Staying at the Mandarin in Chiang Mai and thought I would throw this out:
Friends recently stayed there and bashed the place.
Anyone here care to offer up any views? experiences? I have done a search but the reviews or comments seem limited.
I found it difficult to imagine it being BAD, but the way this couple reacted, itgot me thinking....
any insight at all is appreciated - thank you!

You can use Thai's e-checkin terminals even if you're not a Royal Orchid Program member. You just need the credit card you used to book the tickets. HOWEVER, if you need to check bags there's no point, since you'll have to queue at the counter to do that anyway.

I can't say I've heard anything bad about the M-O but I haven't stayed there. I did visit, and thought it was a bit over the top. It's also a bit out of the way for my taste, but I guess if you can afford to stay there you can afford to be driven everywhere. Chiang Mai is such a nice place to just wander around in, I would recommend a place in town that would allow you to do that. Have a look at the Chedi, Puripunn, Yaang Come Village, or any of a dozen other small places in town. For less than you'll pay for the M-O you can get a suite at any other place.

I didn't know that Michael. I never tried. I would have liked to do that instead of wait on a 2 hour line to get to the counter. They always state above the terminals and on the website that you need to be a Royal Orchid Member to use the terminals.
