Best time of evening and which day to book a flight on Northwest Airlines?
Hi I am planning on a flight to Paris by way of Amsterdam on Northwest Airlines in early September.
3 questions best buy on (cheapest price)
A. What time in the evening is the best time to go online to get plane tickets?
B. Which day of the week?
C. Are monday tuesday or wednesday the best days to travel as far as price?

Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays are usually the cheapest. George Hobica at airfarewatchdog stated last week that airlines change their prices on Fridays and post them Saturday evening. I had read somewhere a year ago that late Tues or Wed night was a good time. Good-luck...AMS is a very nice airport.

I don't know about Northwest, but most airlines now have real-time yield management pricing methods in place, so there's no longer any "best time" to find fares. The computers see under- or over-selling of certain flights/routes/dates, and in the blink of an electron they've repriced the remaining inventory on that flight/route.
On long haul routes I expect (but have not researched) that they've also factored in spot oil prices so they can determine future fuel surcharges and operating revenue needs.
IMO a lot of the stories about "late Tuesday" (late where? Minneapolis? Shanghai?) or Friday-night sweeps, are dated concepts.
As for which days are better for prices, in general many airlines have higher prices on weekends for leisure routes, higher prices on weekdays (including Sunday nights) for business-intensive routes.
Go to www.itasoftware.com and use their 30-day fare search - you can get a good picture of what's cheap when.

what Gardyloo said....
no such thing as the best time/day to buy anymore.
As to when is the best time to fly? Generally MON-WED and SAT, with a Saturday night stayover, will most likely get you the cheaper fare.
