need seat that will recline...

Have a medical condition that makes sitting is difficult ...it's easier when I can get a seat that reclines...if not flat at least enough so I can stretch out.

Does this exist?....in first class?..and if so what airlines?.Thanks

I had a flatbed seat when I was bumped up to Business Class on British Airways. I have heard that American is upgrading it's fleet to include flatbed in biz class, but I doubt it's available on all flights just yet.

If biz class is too pricey, consider premium economy where you will get a deeper recline. British Airways offers premium economy but I don't know who else does.

Are you talking about a domestic flight or international?

where to where? You've been planning a trip that went from San Diego to Europe to Boston to San Diego, I think, or something like that. Or is this a new trip?

Virgin America first class has wonderful seats that recline more than most (even massage). Virgin Atlantic have fully reclining seats that are more like beds.

loisco, if you search British Airways' web site, look for World Traveller Plus. That's what they call premium economy.

Right now San Diego to Boston...no more trips to Paris yet till I resolve this sitting problem.

Also we go to Newark...and to Buffalo...usually out of Boston but we can change that

I do have AAFF miles...enought to upgrade but I am not sure what the seats would be like...would they recline a bit?..in business???

If you need to be very comfortable and don't mind 1 connection each way then here is what I would do.

SAN-jfk-BOS-jfk-SAN

Outbound: AA flight #160 connecting in JFK to a short American Eagle flight to BOS

Inbound: An American Eagle flight to JFK and connecting to AA flight #127

Both long haul flights SAN-JFK-SAN, are serviced by 767s with the new business class seats. The seats do recline and in fact go totally flat.

This would be the best way to use your miles to upgrade.

The other options are either a 757 or MD80. The seats are typical domestic first class seats. Wider, more room and they do recline slightly but nothing like the 767.

Those seats on AA's 767 should be "lie-flat" seats that are flat, but at an angle to the floor.

If you want horizontal "flat beds", you need to go up to LAX and fly United's "p.s." service in First Class to JFK.

Did not know that UA accepted AA miles?

The op was asking about reclining seats and possible use of AA miles to upgrade......

The other problem with taking United p.s. is that to get from JFK to BOS on UA would mean going via IAD.

Better would be to go in business class on a UA 777 LAX-IAD that has international first and business class (the flight continues to Amersterdam).

The business class on that flight would be just what you need to stretch out. It is like a recliner chair that reclines almost flat, with a bend at the knees and butt. Won't be cheap.

But the United options require two stops. The AA one-stop option is better, esp. if you can upgrade with AA miles and not United miles.
