Isreal
Need some advise. Planning on visiting Jerusalem In Oct. Will be flying from Athens on Oct 19 th in the AM Returning to Greece on Oct 22 PM I realize it is a short time but would I have enough time to visit the Old City, Western wall, etc. I realize the closing on Friday Nite and Saturday will be an issue for me , but this is the only time I will be able to go to Isreal. ANY suggestions would be appreciated Thanks Loiu

Everything in the Old City is open on Saturday except for sites in the Jewish Quarter. The market and Christian & Muslim sites are all open. In the New City the following are open on Saturday: the Israel Museum, the Bible Lands Museum, David's Citadel Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Ramparts Walk. Check their websites for Fri-Sat hours. So Friday-Saturday will not be an issue as there is more than enough to occupy your time.

thanks so much for the reply We are able to back the time up one day arriving on the 18th. Do you have a short suggested itinerary possibly going thru Old Town and any sites in the area. I appreciate your knowledge
Thanks

Hi
This is definitely a short time, but I think you can certainly make it to the important places. You can enter the Western Wall on Saturday night, for example, or decide to hike in the surrounding area today. Even when everything is closed, you can walk along the Mamilla Boulevard, for example, and reach the walls. Good planning will give you the opportunity to visit a large number of places despite the Shabbat and the short time available to you.
