GPS help needed

I now have my new GPS (GPSMap 60Cx) and I have the Tracks4Africa Botswana map on my PC. Now what? Our itinerary for Nxai Pan, Moremi and Chobe is complete, with campsite bookings, so we know where we will be staying each night and where we will travel to and from each day. Is it better to make up all of my routes for each day on my computer and then transfer each route to the unit memory? I gather you can create more complex routes using a PC? Does anyone know of a tutorial that will walk me through the steps? A good book? Thanks! Robin

When you finish, be sure to unsubscribe because you can get a lot of excess emails over a few weeks.

If for any reason you had plans of camping at Gwembe Lodge, I heard that they are closing their campsite. Not sure of the dates- but you can email them. The next closest would be Planet Baobab.

We're not! Thanks! Just doing Third Bridge, Xakanaxa, Khwai, Savuti and Ihaha.

How's the flooding going to be in Moremi this year - have you heard?

Have signed up for the Track4Africa group - just waiting to hear from them.
Thanks! Robin

luangwablondes -- Gwembe Lodge is in Choma. You're talking about Gweta Lodge?

Your right. Its Gweta that is closing their camp. Too many camps to put in order. There is another off the Boleti that is closed to camping too. Seems the self drive is gradually running out of good places to camp. And if that isn't enough, the local wildlife are giving us a hard time, like the baboons at 3rd Bridge.

Xwaraga is the campsite of Leroo-la-Tau. Nice spot. I didn't use it but had a look at it while staying at the lodge. Looks like the new lodge management has different plans now.

Thanks for the offer Amolkarnik, but I do have Veronica Roodt's maps. After trying unsuccessfully to get them by mail (to Canada), I picked up a set while I was in SA this past July...but thank you again for the offer.

Tried to book campsite at Leroo-la-Tau very recently - that's gone too. They prefer the 'up-market' option.

Luangwablondes is right, seems the self drive option is getting more difficult, many of the places I've seen recommended on this forum or in guide books, like Gweta, no longer take campers. It's my first time camping in Botswana and I'm disappointed by the lack of options compared with Namibia & South Africa.
Suggestions welcome!
