Please Help! We are leaving in less than 2 days and can't get our Garmin European maps to load!
What are we doing wrong??
Is it that we need to wait until we arrive in London in order to get it to work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. DH cannot figure this out!
Thanks so much!
P.S. I also posted this in the Lounge, but we need all the help we can get, lol.

Ah, the wonders of technology. Having traveled by car, train, and river boat over most of Europe (all of the west and some of the east) without anything but Michelin and AA (Automobile Association in Britain) Ordnance Survey maps, I can only advise you to wean yourself from Garmin. Even in the States, I find they take the driver's attention off the road when his/her attention is needed most. Sorry.

If you have a navigator it's okay, USNR. And you sound a bit like my son who prefers using maps. However, my husband was getting anxious about getting lost.
But here we are, unable to get it to work.
Help. Anyone. Please.

Well, I feel sorry for you and responses like the one above are useless!!!!
Can you give us a description of what is going on? On mine to do an update I have to load the maps on my PC and then connect the Garmin to the PC. I have had problems with the PC not "recognizing" the Garmin. Is that happening? If so it may be a simple "reboot" with the Garmin attached.
Are you getting an error message? If so what?
(Did your DH go to Garmin's website to "unlock" his maps first? I think you have to do that)
Personally having used my Garmin this past fall in Europe I know why you want it.
Post as many details as you can and then ignore the "wise crack" responses.

Thank you Carol for your response.
AnnMarie, posted these directions and we were able to get the Garmin to work. Thank Goodness!!
We have the SD (I don't even know what that means, lol). Here is her post in case someone else has the same question.

If you have an SD card, which is what he has, follow the these instructions, by screen....
select settings, then map, then map info...a menu of map options should be visible, be sure the maps you're looking for are checked (selected). If you don't see the map you're looking for on the menu then it's not loaded.
I sure hope some of this makes sense--I'm better with the visuals. If it makes you feel better, DH almost sent the SD card back because it took him awhile to figure it out--and he's a sharp cookie! Good luck.
