Egypt Air
Has anyone flown Egypt Air recently, specifically JFK to Cairo? We are vacationing in Egypt next year and while currently booked to fly in economy class I'm wondering how worth it would be to upgrade to business (Horus) class in terms of comfort? Also, as we have not yet recieved our airline tickets, are seats pre-assigned or assigned at check-in? I am slightly anxious about the flight. Thanks for your input.

Are you anxious because you're afraid of flying in general or because of Egypt Air specifically? I've taken a number of in-county flights on Egypt Air & found the planes clean with helpful flight attendants who speak Arabic & English. The safety information was in English & Arabic. In country they have a habit of cancelling flights, but I haven't read on this site that that's a problem for international flights

I have a flight with them in November from JFK to Cairo. I will let you know when I get back. From the comments I've read here and elsewhere, they don't seem to be any worse or better than any other airline. I'm not looking forward to the length of the flight either.

Hello everythingtravel,
I am also in the midst of trip planning to Egypt. I have no first-hand experience YET; however, after speaking with a rep from EgyptAir, he told me they do not pre-assign seats until you arrive at the airport.
Perhaps someone else has a different story, but this is what I was told.

My wife and I flew business class on Egypt Air between JFK and Cairo in March/April 2005. Excellent service, on-time departures and arrivals, luggage handled precisely. Meals were fine, aircraft clean and kept tidy, no problems whatever. Seats, even in business class, were assigned at the airport, unfortunately, although we were traveling with another couple. We flew coach on EA between Cairo and Amman and several times within Egypt. Same good service.

Hi,
We have a group of 8, will be in Egypt in mid November.
We are considering taking the evening flight out from Cairo to Aswan. The only non-stop flight at night is 10pm, and it is the last flight. There is a 8pm flight with 1 stop, the other flights are early morning 6am-ish.
I just learned that Egypt Air will cancel a flight if they doon't have enough passengers. Will 8 people be enough for them to fly?
Some of our group members are light sleeper so we decided not to take the sleeper train.
Your advice is greatly appreciated!
