What Do You think of Egypt Air in Economy?

We are considering taking Egypt Air from NYC to Cairo because it is the only non-stop. Also, the fare is only $850. Are we in for a "cattle car" seating configuration in ECONOMY. Business Class is $3300 and it is only a 9 hour flight? Thanks. Please be open.

We flew EgyptAir in economy from Rome to Cairo earlier this month. Although much shorter, it was fine. We were served a nice meal, got drinks refreshed several times and had a great crew. Coach wasn't bad at all.

We took Grand Circle tour to Egypt in May 05. They used Egypt Air in Economy.
The seating was real good as the plane is widebody 777. They served us 3 meals. I would take it again. We also flew to Luxor from Cairo and they even served breakfast. Our total pkg was only $1700 including air.

FYI, I think that they do not serve alcohol on the intercontinental Egypt Air flights.

I don't recall Egypt Air serving alcohol, either. Great fruit juices though!

Economy is economy. Not always the most pleasant on any carrier, but doable. If you can get aisle seats, it's a bit more comfy as you can stretch out the legs and easy enough to get up and walk around.

9-hours is a short trip... could be the 16/hrs JFK/Johannesburg or Sydney/Johannesburg. or 12-hrs to Narita. You're going to Egypt - won't matter much when you see what's waiting for you.

Enjoy!

That is a great fare for that flight. Do you mind if I ask when you are going and where you found that price?
Thanks, Lee

Lee; I found it on their official website for a departure 4/7/07-4/20. We are going to Egypt and Israel with 9 days/10 nights in Egypt and the remainder in Israel.

Stan,

Thanks for your quick reply! Besides being non stop, that flight seems to have the best departure times (especially on the way home) available.

Thanks again, Lee

I've flown Egypt Air a few times and have never had any issues. They may not always be on time ;-) but the planes have always been just as comfortable as any western airline, and at times more modern. Go for it!

In general, Egypt Air was as good as any other airline in coach, but, if you're a nonsmoker, stay away from the back seats, near the galley, as, on our flight, the crew and some passengers went back there to smoke. Of course, if you're a smoker, this would be an advantage.

Thanks. We are non-smokers so our seat assignment will be over the wings, it is often more stable.
