Denver Pavilions

LoDo

This three-story, open-air retail and entertainment complex in downtown Denver houses national chain stores like Sephora, H&M, GNC, and PacSun. There are also restaurants, including Denver's Hard Rock Cafe, and a 15-screen movie theater, the UA Denver Pavilions. Don't expect distinctive local flavor, but it's a practical complement to Larimer Square a few blocks away.

Der Kuchen Laden

Anyone who loves to cook will enjoy browsing this well-equipped Fredericksburg mainstay which, after decades in town, has recently moved to the beautiful old historic stone Keidel Memorial Hospital building. It offers a high-quality selection, with stock that ranges from coffee and tea to cookware and cutlery. And, in a fun twist of fate, the owner is the daughter of a doctor who practiced medicine here until the 1990s.

Der Teddybär

EPCOT

Although you can buy wines and beer steins in the Germany pavilion, they don't provide the warm, fuzzy feelings that the teddy bears on display here do. Bears (or "bärs") share the boutique with Rapunzel and Snow White snow globes and plush toys, Minnie dolls and figurines, and German confections.

Derby Pottery

Garden District

Fragments of wrought iron work and other architectural details form the inspiration for many of Mark Derby's beautiful pottery pieces, from mugs and vases to handmade Victorian reproduction tiles. His clocks and plaques, fashioned from reproductions of New Orleans's historic Art Deco water-meter covers, have earned cult popularity, and his reproductions of letter tiles found on Crescent City street corners can be spotted all over town.
