After previous lives as a Ritz-Carlton Lake and Ravella, this property was rebranded yet again in 2013, retaining its Mediterranean vibe and resplendent pool complex. There's still a Ponte Vecchio–like wing extending out across the lake. And rooms are just as posh as ever, with luxurious beds and spacious marble bathrooms. Even the restaurant is the same—the upscale Medici Café & Terrace, which looks out on the Florentine Garden. Spa Ravella (yes, it has the old name) provides a number of male-oriented treatment rituals (for the conference set), as well as a host of traditional services and a hydrotherapy program.

Set in the flourishing eastern suburbs near I–240, this 27-story glass tower has views of the sprawling metropolis and its outskirts.

Kids can splash and slide year-round in the hotel's indoor water park, open on weekends. The brick hotel, adjacent to Milwaukee's convention center, was built in 1929 and its lobby is quite elegant. Lakefront attractions are a few blocks away.

Right on the Gulf, this hotel offers incredible views at one of the beach's most affordable prices. A rooftop pool is a major asset, especially during the hot D.C. summer days. The hotel also offers laundry rooms for guests with state-of-the-art washers and dryers. 

The most pleasant and contemporary of Alamogordo's several chain hotels, this centrally located mid-rise offers friendly, professional service, immaculate grounds and interior spaces, and spacious, comfortable rooms. Beds are triple sheeted with plush linens and comforters, and dark-wood furniture and cool, calming beige walls make for a pleasurable stay.

Locals send their guests to this updated facility for the clean, comfortable rooms and down-home friendly staff. Rooms contain appealing dark-wood furnishings and comfortable chairs, in addition to great beds. Good-size bathrooms with large showers and adjustable showerhead height are added amenities.

The decor is contemporary and spaces updated at this better-than-average, two-story Holiday Inn a half mile from the Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel. Rooms have desks and high-speed Internet access; some suites have dining areas, kitchenettes, and whirlpool tubs. There's round-the-clock shuttle service to casino (provided by casino).

Just two blocks from the beach and close to downtown, the hotel is a good base for exploring the shore. A tennis center and golf course are less than a mile away. Working vacationers have access to a business center and meeting room that hosts up to 100 people.

Just off the main Park City exit near I–80, this chain hotel has a mountain-lodge feel. Rooms are on the small side, but are clean and comfortable. Guests like the friendly staff and in-room Keurig coffeemakers. The heated pool is always a hit with kids. Continental breakfast is included. Rates depend on season.

The most upscale and contemporary of the hotels in town has clean rooms, fine views of Johnson Mesa and the vast grasslands, and a peaceful location south of Downtown. An extensive Continental breakfast buffet is included, as are snacks in the lobby from 4 to 8. Request one a room in the newer wing for extra legroom.

Among the newer and more updated accommodations in Waycross, the Holiday Inn Express is centrally located in the commercial hub of the city, just down Knight Avenue from the shopping mall. Recently renovated in 2022, the hotel has clean, comfortable rooms and beds and the wellness offerings of an indoor pool, sauna, and fully equipped fitness center.

Guest rooms at this suburban hotel are brightly decorated with basic furnishings. The property is within walking distance of a light-rail station for transportation to downtown Baltimore; the city is an easy 25-minute drive directly down I–83. Although there's no restaurant in the hotel, a free breakfast bar is available every morning, and many restaurants are nearby. A note to outdoor enthusiasts: This hotel is only a short drive from Loch Raven Reservoir.

Since all buildings in the Historic District must conform to the local charm, Holiday Inn went all-out, creating a handsome interior design in the public spaces, with tasteful animal-print settees, leather club chairs, fireplaces, and classy chandeliers. Impressive guest rooms, especially the deluxe ones on the concierge level, are done in a taupe palette with textured walls, wet bars, contemporary designer bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and luxury bedding. The rooftop swimming pool has a shady gazebo and fabulous river views. A bank of public computers is available to guests. The location is excellent and can't be beat for the price.

The large, six-story riverfront hotel is adjacent to a golf course and a marina. All rooms have balconies or patios, which are larger in the east-facing river-view rooms. All rooms will be completely renovated, with new furnishings and flat-screen TVs, by the end of 2009. The hotel has a pubby lounge, an arcade room, massage treatments, and a larger-than-average fitness room. Grand Lady cruises leave from the hotel's back door.

Halfway between Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, this complex of buildings stands on 13 beautifully landscaped acres. Some rooms overlook the indoor pool in the atrium while others have doors that open, motel-style, directly onto the parking lot. There was a complete renovation in 2013, including the indoor pool. There's free Wi-Fi, and rates now include a hot breakfast.

Two miles south of the airport and 18 mi from downtown, this Holiday Inn is convenient to Redstone Golf Club, home of the Shell Houston Open. Rooms are pretty much what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn—nothing too luxurious but well equipped for both business and leisure travelers.

Its perfect downtown location makes this generic chain property handy for exploring the city. Rooms and public spaces are modern but basic, but the rooms have refrigerators and free Wi-Fi. A fitness center and indoor pool, plus a restaurant and bar, are among the amenities, and the hotel welcomes pets. 

This hotel is ¼-mile from the turnpike and 12 miles east of Downtown.
