Those enchanting ceramic pitchers...I have vowed not to buy any more table accessories due to disastrous overcrowding in my house.  But they certainly would make a unique gift!   Sold on Salina only at this restaurant.

One of the standout dishes of the trip so far:  Partner's fresh tortilla stuffed with a stracotto (stew) of black piglet (likely from the Nebrodi Mountains, where 
Sicily's most lauded pigs are bred.  Bathed in a Pecorino-based sauce and topped with divine cherry tomatoes and crispy and delicious slices of guanciale (pig jowl, most commonly used as an ingredient in pasta all carbonara, quintessential dish off Rome and all of Lazio)

Carafes for house wine are crafted by a Palermitana who lives and works on the isolated Aeolian Island of Fillicidi for half the year.  No cars on that island!

This dinner cost 87 euro (one glass of Malvasia and one bottle of water, the usual Panna water, from Tuscany, served in most restaurants and at our hotel) but much of that high price was due to the special of the Salina shrimp which cost about 40 euro.   Great seafood is never cheap, even in Sicily.   And prices on the Aeolians are higher than on the main island of Sicily.

The lane from our hotel to "downtown" Malfa, which consists of one main street, a few blocks long.   Malfa is but one town on Salina; the largest is Santa Maria Salina, the main port.   A bus runs around the island and seems to run about once an hour...

The second wurst in the menu which I posted earlier, in the Viktualenmarkt.....note the crisped exterior of the roll...not the soft, spongy typical New York City hot dog...even at places like the acclaimed Katz', the rolls are NOT good....but I never knew, before eating a wurst in Munich!!!!!!

What we would call "latkes" at home, but these have ham and cheese..a Shonda!!!  They sure look great but did not buy as have no means to re-heat in the hotel.

Somehow this pic made it onto the thread but I will leave it. ,example of the type of cars parked outside our hotel...pretty nice Audi!!  Also many Ferrari, Lamborghini;
taxis are luxurious cream-colored Mercedes and BMW seem like the car of "everyman," like the volks wagen of decades past.....

Outrageously great gelato with salad Carsmel sauce..
I have the total bill some where, but prices are in line with other good places in the city, and much less than DON CAMILLO...and much more casual.....HIGHLY recommended......
