Yet another hotel question NYC

My friend and I traveled for years to NYC with our mothers and stayed at The Edison Hotel. It's been a long time and now my friend and I are planning a trip with just the two of us this summer. Wow. The Edison has gone up! Although we don't particularly like Times Square, we like it's proximity to the theaters so we can easily walk back to our hotel after a play without having to worry about trying to get a cab. In researching hotels, these are a few that I have found. Any opinions on these? They're all near Time Square. Any others that you can suggest? We need a room with two beds. Thanks so much!

Hilton Times Square $1200 to $1389, depending on cancellation

Edison $1412.73 (24 hour cancellation)

RIU 2Q - $928 Free cancellation

Pestana Hotel Group Times Square $1078 – Free cancellation

No mention of when you are going or your budget so I’m not sure if those prices are for a couple nights or a week. Oour last two trips we have stayed at the Michelangelo and the Renaissance Times Square. Of the two, we definitely preferred the Michelangelo but both had convenient locations and decent prices (under $250/night for our dates in January/February).

Thanks, Tracilee. I'll look into those. We're going for three nights in July.

As you are sharing a room, that seems a lot for 3 nights. It might be cheaper [though I agree not so convenient] to stay somewhere else and use the subway/get cabs.

My friend and I stayed at Edison and were awake all night by trash compactor outside. Plus the pipes made a lot of noise.

We have stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Times Square several times, as recently as last December. Easy walk to Broadway, subway across the street. Diner/cafe opposite with fast service and adequate-good breakfast. Two queen beds. High floor slightly extra, but much better noise wise. Have always had good service there.

we've stayed at the M Social Hotel a couple of times and really liked it. It's about 3 blocks north of the Edison at 7th Ave. Play with their website as refundable deals pop up all the time, especially if one of you is an AAA member.
Edison as a $35 per night resort fee now and I think M Social is about the same.

That looks like a great price for the Riu Plaza especially if it includes the resort fee.Even if it doesn't I would probably jump on that since it's free cancellation. It's much nicer than the Edison which is definitely not the old Edison that you knew and loved. In fact I'm thinking it might be a mistake, you found the Riu Plaza at $500 less than the Edison, what? ? ?
