This won't help you, but I am so tickled! We are going to NY in May to go to Yankee Stadium in its last year. As transplanted NYer's this was a must do trip.
A former Albuquerque co-worker is a season ticket holder [he is also a transplant] and just emailed me today to tell me he got his game schedule [he has 1/2 season plan] and he has tickets for May 20 and 21 and he is giving them to us!!! Extra special, since the 21st is my birthday.
He said the tickets would be available in March. Maybe that is when single game tickets go on sale.
He sells his unused ones on stubhub

I believe that because this is the last year of...... the "OLD", "Great", "Beautiful", house that "Ruth Built"or in my case...where "Mickey Mantle" Played!!... there will be EXTRA interest in getting to a game this year!
So Tix will be at a premium!

If you go to the team web site it will tell you when individual tickets go on sale. Do not expect any discounts - since most games sell out - and it will be even more so this year - the last year of this stadium.
If you want tickets versus a name team expect to have to pay a significant premium from a scalper.

Has anyone ever used this website to order tickets? Is it legit? Because they do seem to have baseball (et al) tickets for sale for this season.

Ticket brokers will now have a list of games and tickets they will have to sell - they have reliable sources even though tickets have not been made available to general public (season ticket holders, players, etc.) If you bought tickets now from such a broker/site, you would not likely have tickets in hand until just before season starts.
OP - you mentioned bargains and good seats. Ticket brokers are good ways to get good seats - but not to get bargains.

Unless I'm seriously misreading that website, the tickets seem reasonably priced. And yes, it does clearly state that we won't have our tickets for some time. Check it out, nytraveler, and tell me what you think.
I'm fine with not getting a bargain and even reasonably good seats are good enough. I just want to go to a Yankees game while I'm in NY and especially now that I see that this is the last season for Yankee Stadium. I think they're playing Detroit and Seattle while we're there.

On the Yankees website it gives prices for various locations. Compare these with various ticket broker prices, many of which are available now - then only you can decide what is reasonable and what is not - I have no idea what ticket brokers get for Yankees games, but for random Red Sox games at Fenway it is somewhere from 1 1/2 to twice face value. Premium teams and especially Red Sox versus Yankees are many times more.

The problem is that I don't really know who the 'real' ticket brokers are and I don't want to be providing my credit card number if I'm not sure. For theatre tickets, I'd go with broadwaybox because it's Fodors-recommended.
Do any of you know if this coasttocoast place is legit? Or can you give me the name of a broker you've used or know of?

I use www.stubhub.com. They are well kwown, fully legit, and guarantee valid tickets.
There are others - often they pull from the exact same pool of tickets. You may see them offering the same exact seats, but at different prices.
I've also used gotickets.com. Expect to pay 25% - 50% over list price, depending on day of week and opponent. For a Tue Tampa Bay game you can buy tickets outside the stadium for below list price. I always prefer to leave home with tickets in hand, so I never buy at the stadium from scalpers.
There is also the important question of what are 'good seats'. For me it means lower level, anywhere out to foul poles. Lower level outfield are ok too, but you don't see a lot of the action close up. I don't like upper deck at all.
My preferred seats at the Stadium are middle level, at or near 1st base or 3rd base. You are close enough to see the batters box and infield action, and not too high up. List price for those is about $60 each, so expect to pay $75-100 from broker.

Yay! I just got confirmed tickets on stubhub (thanks, J62) for the April 30th Detroit game.
We're in section MLRS 30 row A. If I'm reading the seating chart correctly, that waaaaay down the third base line at the foul pole but it's as much as I was willing to pay. We'll have a great view of the outfield, though! And who knows, maybe some interesting foul balls will come our way!
Now on to theatre tickets...

Well Detroit and Seattle aren;t prime tickets. it's the Red Sox and the Mets that are really expensive.
We generally use stubhub.com - which is a broker but we have always found them reliable.
as to the price- it depends on what type of tickets you're willing to take. Go to the Yankees web site and get a chart of the stadium to see what your options are.
I sat in the tier (top level) seats once - many years ago - and would never do it again - way too steep and scary - and you see nothing.
And IMHO the second level is still too far to see much - but it depends on your level of interest and willingness to spend. But many people find these main box seats to be OK.
We don;t have the time to go very often so we get the best seats we can - regardless of price - meaning field box seats far forward as close to the Yankee dugout s we can get. But for that you looking at a couple of hundred dollars per ticket minimum - and I think higher this year. (For playoff we've paid over $800 per seat - but then we're rabid fans.)
