Yankees game worthwhile for 3-night itinerary?
Dad and hubby are moderate baseball fans, and Yankee stadium certainly has a place in history. We are only in NYC for three nights, and one is already filled with a broadway show. We'd have to consider the Yankee game for the first night (after a noon arrival and a possible brief visit to the Met). Would you guys suggest the game or something else more "neighborhoody" for the evening?

You've got to go! The Yankees are the best--yes, I am a huge fan and somewhat biased
. The stadium is full of history and will be gone soon, so go while you can. I wish so bad I could get to a game this year so go have fun for me!!

Tier 31 or 32 is a long way away, but based on current ticket sales is probably the best you are going to do without using a ticket broker. I would chose Tier 31 since this section is on the rightfield side of the stadium. Rightfield curves in and provides a slightly better vantage point than leftfield. I have sat in Tier 31 and 33 many times... you will have fun.

Definitely go.. For those thickets bring binoculars. (If it were me and the only time I was going to be there I would go for good seats - but then I've been a major Yankee fan since I was 5 years old.)
If you can, get there early and have a look at Monument Park (all the retired numbers and memorials to what is undoubtedly the greatest group of players in all of basebal - from Ruth/Gehrig on down). Also - you'll have a chance to see at least some of the BP.
If you decide to look for better tickets try stubhub.com - we've used them many times and their prices are usually not as bad as some of the other brokers.

Yankee Stadium provides tours of the famous ballfield (check the NY Yankees web site for more information). I thought it was great...we got to walk on the field and see the locker room. I loved it! It is only about 60 to 90 minutes so doing that allows you to see the stadium w/o having to tie up 4 hours of a night watching a game....just an idea

When we were there in May '04 we took the Yankee Stadium tour.
It was awesome.
I called my Yankee buddy while standing on the "NY" logo behind Home Plate. He hated me until he went last year and actually saw a game....and I got a call. hahaha
