I have a question. Did the finals used to go this late into June? When I used to watch in the 70's, I thought the finals went to mid May. In any case, I think Basketball season is way too long.

Back then there were fewer teams in the league, a shorter regular season, and fewer playoff rounds - so yes it does last longer now.

When I used to watch in the 70's, I thought the finals went to mid May.

I remember the first time I noticed that the finals went to mid-May. It was 1971 (I can picture myself sitting on a couch in the common area of my dorm, watching). Anyway, back then, I used to wonder when they started going to midMay, because I remembered them ending in April!
