Yankee Stadium - how safe

My wife is concerned about safety in going to a Yankee game at night. We would be going by subway. I figure there are bound to be loads of people and should be no problem - am I wrong?

You're right. Loads of people all stuffing into the subway to go there or back. I'm sure it will be safe and if it's not too crowded, it will be a pleasant experience. Not to worry. Try to get a seat if you can, don't stand for a long trip back.

Don't worry at all. I have season tickets to Yankees and go to many games, all by subway. There are large crowds going to and from the games, lots of police and very safe. You will not have any problems at all.

The blocks around Yankee Stadium are among the safest in NY when a game is being played. There are numerous police officers assigned to the game and at least one FDNY hazard material unit on site (my brother was on the detail for a year.)

The subway platform will have increased police patrols, in addition to the thousands of other's who'll be on the train with you.

As tourists staying in Midtown, we were very pleased with the subway service to and from Yankee Stadium: lots of people going to the game, great crowd control, station literally across the street from the stadium. After the night game we went to last summer, we were back in midtown in about 20 minutes on a train crammed with happy Yankee fans--Matsui hit a walk-off homer in the 9th to beat the Indians. All in all a great baseball experience.
