Wrightsville Beach

Wrightsville is a crowded beach by my standards, but not anything like Myrtle. It's just been "renourished" so there's more beach there than there has been in recent years. There's a Holiday Inn Sunspree that's nice--they have a website for your to check prices I believe. It's right on the ocean. There are a ton of good restaurants at Wrightsville and Wilmington: South Beach Grill, Portland Grille, Elijah's (downtown), Oceanic, the list goes on and on. The people are good old North Carolina folks--nice, friendly, etc. Any specific questions, let me know.

You're welcome! The town of Wrightsville Beach is trying to be a little more upscale than Carolina or Atlantic Beach--I guess it is, but not all that much. I think you'll find it more crowded, especially when students are in town. We're headed there today to move my daughter who attends UNCW into a new apartment! Kathrine

I would encourage you to drive another 45 minutes south & stay @ Ocean Isle, Holden Beach or Sunset Beach. These are all family oriented, less crowded w/little commercial entities present. You can check some of it out @ the Brunswick Islands web-site (don't have address, sorry).

Holden is the least populated & commercialized of the 3. Ocean Isle is probably the busiest of the 3. All are convenient to Calabash for eats, as well as Wilmington or Myrtle (about 45 minutes to either). Holden is my preference & I have stayed @ all of them but it really depends on what you are looking for. @ Holden you will be looking @ condos & cottages, no hotels.
