Would you travel the week of Sept.11?

I had no plans on traveling that week anyway, but surprisingly my husband, who flies every week on the NY-Washington shuttle, said he's rearranging his schedule so he won't be flying on the 11th.
Even though he doesn't really think anything will happen, he doesn't want to tempt fate.

As a New Yorker and someone who works across the street from ground zero, I'm wondering about the people who won't even leave their homes on 9/11. I'm a supervisor and some of my staff have already told me they're staying home from work that day. I can understand this because we went through hell that day and the remembrance ceremonies, which will be just outside our office, wil bring it all back. I'll be here, are any of you guys planning to stay home that day?

Any one trying to tell someone else the right way to spend a day is out of line. I don't care if it's Sept. 11, Nov. 8, or March 23. Last time I checked, no one in this country can be forced to do anything. If I want to go to work on 9/11, or if I want to take a flight on 9/11, or if I want to stay home and turn off the TV and radio all day and sit in silence on 9/11, then that is what I am going to do. My freedom to do that is still intact, so what business is it of anyone else?
FYI, I was in Washington DC last 9/11 and it was over 85 degrees and sunny all up and down the East Coast. Cool weather is not likely at that time in Philadelphia.

Ana, if you don't want to fly that day or that week, that's your choice.
But, the weather doesn't change that drastically over a week or 2. If that week is fine, so will be the next week, or the week after that. Philadelphia at that time of the year should be in the 70s but could be in the 50s or 60s or even the 80s.

Going to Hawaii with my husband for trip of a lifetime on Sept 10th. We will not be terrorized.
Dana's right about flights being cancelled... Our Delta flight on 9/10 was cancelled "due to 9/11", we have to go out on the night before now. Oh well, one extra day of vacation won't hurt!
Go for it, Ana. By the way, what did I miss - "I saw on the news what happened in the S.Fco. area recently" ??

Heck yeah. I'm going to FLorida for a week on Sept. 11. Got a great deal that day to fly. 72 bucks roundtrip from NYC. Of course, everyone is nervous to fly that day but living in NYC, is it really any safer to take the subway or the bridges and tunnels? It's all a crapshoot.

As I stated, I will be traveling on business, (for the first time ever) to Philadelphia. I'm supposed to get trained in a client's computer system. At first they were coming to Venezuela to train me, but due to the recent events of my country they asked me if I would go, instead.
As I live in Venezuela, I don't have an idea of the weather conditions of the state, one of the reasons why I posted.
Anyway, the new videos have put this trip in a whole new perspective for me. Once again I'm doubting...
Would you travel...?

This may be a little off-topic, but here's a newsflash for those of you fearing that something might happen on Sept. 11.
These guys were Islamic fundamentalists, right? That means they probably use the Muslim calendar, not the "Gregorian" (western) one. The Muslim calendar is lunar. The Muslim calendar anniversary of Sept. 11 2001 is Sept. 1, 2002, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Don't assume everyone looks at the world like you do - the term for that is "ethnocentrism" and it makes for big errors.

Without giving it any thought I planned a trip involving flying on the 5th and 17th. I booked the flights several months ago. Recently, Alaska Airlines cancelled my return flight and put me on a flight two hours later. Maybe traffic is down so much for the whole month that the flight was cancelled.
If I had thought about it, I still would have scheduled the trip when I did, because of weather and convenience considerations.
I had had a guided tour to France scheduled for September 14th. It got bumped back several days because of flight cancellations, but we still went. I'm glad we did.
