My husband and I would like to spend about 6 weeks in Florida next Feb-April. We need to take our 2 dogs, also. Can anyone suggest a nice area near beach , reasonably priced. small house or condo.

Some questions:

What does "reasonably priced" mean to you? $2000 a week or $2000 a month?

What does "near beach" mean? Walkable or quickly driveable? Be aware that having 2 dogs will make your job harder, though not impossible, but you need to know that many (most? all?) beaches in Florida do not permit dogs.

How cool are you willing to accept? Mornings in the low 40's? Mornings mostly 50+? Mornings down to the 30's?
How hot? 60's, 70's, or 80's?

Do you want lots of other activities or mostly just hanging out?

These will help us give better answers.

You might consider Fort Myers Beach which has a 7 miles beach and reasonably priced accommodation. We have just returned (with our two labradors) after two months staying close to Fort Myers Beach and about 4 miles from the causeway to Sanibel Island (in our RV). The reason for our choice was that Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel and Captiva permit dogs on leashes on their beaches. There is also a doggie beach at Lovers Key (Bonita Springs) where dogs are permitted off leash. Last year we stayed in Naples and although it is a fabulous place it does not permit dogs on its beaches, so we found ourselves driving a lot.
www.dogfriendly.com has suggestions for dog friendly beaches and accommodation.

Ahhh, not two thousand per week. Kinda thinking of spending 5,000 for the six weeks. felxible on that, but not on the dogs. they must go with us. we walk, sun, bike, eat out, whatever is available and easy. we are 60is, but active. near beach, a less than a mile walk.does that help? I want to be able to take dogs with us most of the time, so maybe I should go to Europe, huh???

OOops, forgot the temps. I wouldn't care if the nights were cool, but not 90s in the daytime. medium temps would be nice. we also swim.

It won't be in the 90's in Florida Feb-April unless it's unusally warm. It's been 85 in Ft.Myers the last few weeks but the humidity is low so you'd never know it. Here is a thread on vacation rentals from a month ago. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...princess&fid=1

Have you checked vrbo.com? They are all for rent by owner and some are pet friendly. They have them all over.
