The Muse New York City?

Help! Has anyone stayed at the Muse? I have been reading all these messages and do not see it mentioned. I have it booked for April 12, but can cancel. It is supposed to be a 4*.

Check out the reviews at Tripadvisor.com. I have never heard anything bad about the place but have not stayed there myself.

Do a search on this board - use the box above. I've only heard good things. It's a Kimpton hotel - and that's usually a GREAT thing.

Did you get a deal? If so, please tell. I want to stay there!

My wife and I stayed there right before Chirstmas 2005. We had a choice of this hotel along with the W midtown, the Helmsley, and were going to slurp for the St. Regis (starwood gold upgrade) but chosed the Muse from my wife's local N.Y. office recommendation and its proximity to the office. We hated the hotel.

The room was really small, bathroom has "stylized" flourescent lighting, we were on the 3rd or 4th floor and were woken every morning at 4AM from the garbage trucks. And the staff were too busy trying to look cool to help us. We stayed 3 nights 4 days, and not ONCE were we greeted with a hello. The check in/out process was horrendous with 1 clerk, the other one was looking something up on her monitor and couldn't be distracted to help with a line of 5 deep. No help with opening the door, so expecting help with luggage from/to the taxi would have been too much to ask. We would never go back there.

Location is great.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I think from everything I see I got a good deal. I had been looking for a suite but because of price I changed to two rooms I got rooms for 199.00 per night each. It was a special on Travelzoo. After reading so many posts on New York I started wondering if I should change to Michaelangelo but cannot come close to price.
