wine country

We are gong to be in san Fransisco in early June. Where would you recommend spending time in the wine country? How many days would be enough?

Hi Mesta
There are many, many threads on this.
You've got to do some research on this or you will get a globulation of answers that have nothing to do with what YOU like.

Click on the "search" box and enter
wine country or sonoma or napa
or healdsburg or yountville-
Then come back and tell us what you want to do/see, what kind of experience are you interested in having, what's your budget, do you want to wine taste,
enjoy fine dining, hike, see the coast ?

See if you can narrow it down to what
YOU might like to do and return with more specific questions.

Yes someone should start a post on doing a search before posting.

Oh wait, seems like that was done.

We enjoy making Yountville a home base for a couple of nights in Napa Valley, then we like to head up to Calistoga for a night or two.

The Yountville Inn is very nice and in Calistoga we like the Indian Springs Resort for lodging, tho the Mt. View Hotel right in downtown Calistoga also looks like a place I would like. We have had nice meals at: Auberge du Soleil, Domaine Chandon, Bistro Jeanty, Terra, Tra Vigne and in Calistoga I like the Wappo Bar & Bistro.

We're headed to Sonoma next month to stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn. In this area I like: the girl and the fig, the Swiss Hotel, Sante @ the SMI, Cafe La Haye, Dry Creek Kitchen (Healdsburg Hotel) and the Alexander Valley Grille @ the Chateau Souverain.

This time we will be trying: the Harmony Club @ the Ledson Hotel and the Farmhouse Inn for dinners. Lunch will be at the girl and the fig and possibly a lunch at Della Santina or Cucina Viansa, so we'll see how those places pan out! Cheers!

On the Sonoma Coast, I have enjoyed our stays at the Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa but would like to try the Sonoma Coast Villas in this area. ***kim***

BTW mesta, check out www.winecountry.com for lodging, they are offering some really great rates on this site for Sonoma area hotels. I don't know how they will be for June, tho! ***kim***
