Willard vs Hay-Adams go big or go home

Thanks to all who responded to my last post--since its going to be expensive anyway and they are almost the same price. ...Which one the Willard or Hay Adams.?Neither one ( according to their websites) made me believe one topped the other.

Also the Hay is not reopening until 10/5?

I would never consider these prices for a hotel stay...but its a 50th birthday and my husband in in remission after a year of chemo and SCT

We loved staying at the Willard when we visited DC. It is beautiful and we loved the history (my understanding is the term "lobbyist" came from the folks who used to hang out in the lobby of this beautiful hotel to talk shop.) We thought the staff was wonderful as well.

Have a great trip!

I've stayed at the Hay-Adams, and I sat in the lobby recently at the Willard. You just can't go wrong with either one!

Oh, the Willard is next door to the W, which has a wonderful rooftop bar.

I also read on trip advisor that some people say the Hay Adams smells musty

Haven't actually stayed at either one, but have visited the Willard several times. It is just lovely and in a great location. The staff is very gracious. I would love to stay there!
