I need your recs for an upscale hotel in D.C. DH and I are planning a trip in late Sept. to see the sites, drink martinis and live it up a little.

DH thinks the Ritz looks great and I am more partial to the Four Seasons. Any tips would be great or recs for any other hotels!

There are 4 RC's in DC or close by. I stayed at the Pentagon Ritz which was nice but I think the Georgetown Ritz is newer.

I had dinner at the FS's and thought it was pretty modern looking. I stay at RC's most of the time but the FS's could be nice too. Georgetown is a neat place. I would go with the Ritz Georgetown.

try the Jefferson or the Hay Adams - both are nice and closer to the "sites"

If you are talking about the Ritz on M St. (clsoest to the Four Seasons), then by far the Four Seasons is MUCH better. I have stayed at both.

The Four Seasons in D.C. is a wonderful hotel, style, service, everything is good.

If the choice is the Ritz in Gtown or the Four Seasons, I would choose the Four Seasons since it is more convenient.

Can't belie4ve I'm the first to recommend the Willard, the hotel from which ``lobbyist'' was spawned.

Great local. A classic.

Hay-Adams is also a great choice.

round robin bar is a fabulous little place, there.

I agree that the Round Robin is cool (I just went there for a drink last week on the way to see Spamalot at Natl. Theater next door) and the dining rm., Willard Room, is wonderful and the common areas are very nice, but the rooms at the Willard can be much less than that. They can be old and dowdy and not very nice (I've stayed there too). So if you stay there, spring for the $$ and get a nice suite, not a regular room, if you want upscale on the room part.

My husband and I just got back from 5 days in D.C. We stayed at the Sofitel and loved it. I would suggest reading the reviews posted on tripadvisor for the hotels you are considering.
