Washington DC weekend hotels

Planning a summer weekend in Washington DC and would like to stay at an more luxury upscale hotel with a fun atmosphere on the weekends, that will offer good weekend rates, with a pool, and centrally located to all attractions/metro. Want to the avoid the stuffy business hotels...
Any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks....

The Ritz Carlton, Washington DC in foggy Bottom has everything you need - you'll love it.

Not many others do because of the pool requirement - pools are VERY rare for central DC hotels.

Hi again and a pool is not required for this weekend since like "bardo1" mentioned in his post, pools in DC will be "very rare". Has anyone stayed at the St. Regis or the Westin Grand in DC?
Thanks...

Not stayed at either as I live here (the St. Regis is definately the more luxurious of those two).

Here are some others in much more fun neighborhoods - the first two in Dupont and the 3rd in Penn Quarter:

I've stayed at the Westin Grand a few times - I like the location because of its proximity to Georgetown. But, there are few restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The closest metro stations are: Foggy Bottom (3 blocks) and Dupont Circle (7 blocks). Check to see if there is still construction taking place right next door and avoid rooms facing 24th St. Otherwise, the hotel is pretty standard Westin. Great bathrooms, modern looking rooms.

No pool, but great rates recently at the Mayflower thru Priceline on weekends. Try bidding like $80-85 per room per night.

Gail,

If good weekend rates is the prime factor of the 5 you listed, then the Westin Grand is a good choice. The walk to the fun atmoshpere in either Georgetown or Dupont is only 6-8 blocks. They even have an outdoor pool.

You would need walk to a Metro station to take you to the popular tourist sights.

We stayed at the Mayflower Hotel about 5 years ago and it's a really nice hotel, even if it doesn't have a pool. Good location as well. Might consider this one again if the rate is right. Thanks...

If you go to priceline and go with 4-star in the Whitehouse area, you can't go to far wrong. Winning bids are in the $85 range.

We LOVED the Monaco in the old restored post office building, but I don't know if there is a pool.
