Wildwood Crest, NJ lodging

Going to the jersey shore with two teens for a long weekend. There are no chain hotels so i've narrowed it down to these two choices:

- Nassau Inn - 6201 Ocean Ave at Sweetbriar Rd
- Gondolier Motel - 5701 Ocean Ave at Lavender Rd.

Both are oceanfront, AAA 3* and the same rate. Anyone familiar with anything that would make a difference in our choice? Which one is best? Any comments appreciated.

Try tripadvisor.com. They have reviews from people that have actually stayed in the hotels they write about. Good Luck!!

We've stayed in WIldwood Crest twice. I don't even remember which hotels we stayed in but I think we also went with AAA 3*. If you've never been there, this place looks like a beach resort town from the 1950s. The only thing that's been updaded is the cars. The hotels, are more like motels, and there's just one after another along the beach. Don't expect anything too fancy, from our experience, these hotels haven't had a face lift for a good 30 years. They are clean and perfectly adequate, but nothing special. The beach there is very nice and there are some decent restaurants. You can also rent bicycles and ride along the boardwalk.

Thank you both so much! While we don't need the ritz or even a hilton, for about 200 a night i was hoping for something a little more like a hampton, holiday inn etc.

So, now we've decided to go to Ocean City, Maryland for a long weekend. Is anyone familiar with:

*Best Western Flagship Oceanfront Inn

*Holiday Inn Boardwalk Suites?

Thank you again!

Good decision Ellen. I think OC is much nicer than Wildwood. Of the two hotels you've shown, I think the Holiday Inn Suites are nicer. Your teens may love a quick trip to the many outlets in Rehoboth DE for lots of tax free shopping.

Thank you Rachel. I'm so bummed - the holiday inn suites are totally booked for every weekend we're available! Do you know anything about the best western there? Or any other hotel that looks nice, and is oceanfront? Anyone else?

Thanks!

From the outside, The Best Western doesnt do anything for me. several years ago we stayed at the other Holiday Inn Suites (@54th Street, I think). I was a semi suite-it had an accordian door partition, kitchenette and small bathroom. It had a fun pool with a swim up bar (the first my kids had seen) and it was fine. A little dated, but we liked the location and both indoor and outdoor pools. Try looking at condo rentals-sometimes you can get one for the weekend. We liked working with Coldwell Banker there. the website we used was cbvacations.com.

I did check out that holiday inn (i prefer hol. inns and their priority club points!) but its not as close to the boardwalk. Since we're traveling with our two teens (17 & 19) i thought it would be good to be closer, as i've read that parking is almost impossible there. What do you think?

Good idea about condos - i'll check it out! Thx again!
