Whittier or Seward???

I just discovered that all Princess cruises will be arriving and departing from Whittier, instead of Seward. Does anyone know if there is a way to get from Whittier to Seward without backtracking to Anchorage? Also curious as to opinions about the STatendam ship from HAL LINE? thanks

By train- I would also assume that Princess will be selling transfers to Seward. As for HAL- a supurb line and superior deck space in my experience. BUT look at other factors- time in port, glacier, route. And my priority only- I would never consider any one way trip without at least 5 additional days interior touring.

Budget Queen. thanks for your comments. I have heard not very good things about HAL's Statandem,w hich would be perfect for our schedule and allow us more time in Alaska before cruising. Any thoughts on that ship?

Used to be the only way out of Whittier was air (take a look at the "airstrip"), water or train to Portage but there is now a road tunnel although I don't know if it's open 24/7 or not.
