I am heading down to Florida next week and would like to go to one of the Disney Water Parks. Both look pretty good...My kids are 12, 8 & 4. I will be able to seperate the olders one who will go on with their uncle. Any suggestions on which park to choose???

I haven't been to the waterparks yet, but plan to in October. My boys are only 4 & 7. We are going to Typhoon Lagoon. I want to check out the snorkeling pool and I just like the themeing better. BB has more thrill rides.

Go to www.allears.net also for more detailed info. My family has been to Blizzard Beach and really enjoyed it. There is a family raft ride, lazy river style tube ride, large lake with gentle waves. Typhoon Lagoon has similar attractions, I think you would enjoy either one.

My son and I both really enjoyed Blizard Beach, when he was 12.

Blizzard Beach is geared much more for thrills on the slides, but there is a small wave pool and a lazy river. Typhoon Lagoon is built around its massive wave pool w/ 2-5 ft waves. Both are great parks, and choosing one is simply based on what you want to do there.

Blizzard Beach has a better family slide than Typhoon Lagoon. Blizzard Beach has better slides, on the whole.

But, Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite park. It is like a tropical paradise and has the snorkel experience. It also has the new water-coaster.

Both parks have great kid areas. Both have great tubing river areas.

The surf pool at Typhoon Lagoon has very strong waves so keep a hold of the little one and you may want to stay towards the protected edgest.

Don't buy the Water Park, Fun & More option for your Disney tickets if you are only doing one water park. It is a good value if you are doing both but the single entry ticket is lower if you're just doing one.

Are you staying at a Disney resort? If you buy the resort refillable soda mug, take it with you. You can buy an all day sticker that gives refills at the water park for $6, I think. Otherwise, you can buy the mug for something like $11.99.

Are you visiting the them parks and do you have touring plans? You're going at a busy time and you'll save a ton of time wasted in lines if you have a good touring plan.

There are some excellent resources out there that will help you with a touring plan that will drastically cut the time in lines, especially when coupled with "Best Days" information. The parks are not equally crowded on any given day and going to the least crowded park is a real advantage.
Here are the three I've used and recommend:
www.tourguidemike.com - this is a subscription site (about $24, I think) that has tons of great information. It can be overwelming at first but just go all the way through the Express Planner once with out clicking to any other links and you'll get a great overview. After you have the big picture, go ahead and click on every article link that strikes your fancy. Great "Best Days" info. Very good touring plans. The only downside is that some people misunderstand and think that you just plug in your interests and a custom plan pops out. The site provides the information you need to create your own plan. Does not include Universal or SeaWorld info. Good waterpark info.

The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World - a book...a very, very thick book. Again, great information and touring plans. The only downside is that the touring plans are more of a "plan of attack" for getting the most in, even with backtrackign involved - sometimes forgetting that you are on vacation. The plans work great if you are one type of family - those with teens, those with toddlers etc. Not as great for multi-generational trip or families with kids in varying age brackets. Does include Universal & SeaWorld information.

www.buildabettermousetrip.com - this is the easiest option because you do just fill out a form letting them know your preferences and they do produce a custom touring plan for you. They're great about answering questions and the touring plans are easy to carry with you. The downside is that they are more expensive than the other "do-it-yourself" options. They do credit any commission from hotel reservations and ticket sales towards the planning services. They also do Universal and SeaWorld plans.

The OP has already done their trip but for what it's worth, hands down I'd say Blizzard Beach if your kids are younger. We had a blast with our 5 and 4 year old last week. Make a day of it and stay until close as the park really cleared out by 7 and we had free run of most attractions.

I'd heard from several people that Typhoon Lagoon is better for teens.
