Where To Stay In Old Town, San Diego, CA

I have a friend coming out for 4th of July holiday. She likes San Diego, especially Old Town. I'm trying to locate a decent, clean hotel in that area....in Old Town itself. I am holding a reservations at Best Western Hotel Hacienda Suites. It got so-so reviews. There are other hotels in that specific area; any opinion of one that is clean and reasonable? Thank you

Old Town does not have many choices. The best western is typical of what you can get. Hotel Circle is a 5 minutes or less to Old Town depending on what hotel you are at and you have many more choices.

Ramada Limited is sold out during those dates.
We want to stay in Old Town. I visited there before and remember there were a couple of hotels.
I've heard of Hotel Circle....where is it? Is it accessible by trolley?

We stayed at the Best Western in Old Town, which was O.K. But, boy, do the rooms differ in size. Friends booked later and ended up with a tiny room (same price).

We just stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites at Rosecrans Ave (Greenwood St). Decent hotel, large rooms, only 5 minutes drive from Old Town.

There are serveral hotel on the harbor that are on the trolley line and you can get to Old Town. The gaslamp area is right there, also seaport village. I believe beside the Marriott and Hyatt there is an Embassy Suites. I would much perfer this area.

Hotel Circle is right off of interstate 8 and near old town. There are parts of it accessible by trolley. Old town does have a couple of hotels and the Best Western and Ramada are the two main ones. You could stay downtown near the harbor and also use the trolley to get to Old Town. Probably a 5 minute ride.
