Where to stay in key west?

There are some people who swear that you don't get the "real" feeling of Key West unless you stay in a B&B. However, my husband and I prefer hotels or condos so we have stuck to those. I can vouch for the Hyatt, the Ocean Key Resort and the Galleon. They're all on Front Street on the Gulf.
If you're not tied to being on the water, the Marquesa Hotel and Heron House get great reviews. Those are all fairly expensive but there are lots of places that are very nice and less expensive. The Island City House and Ambrosia get lots of favorable comments. My best advice is to worry less about the exact place you stay and more about the location. If you stick with being in Old Town you should be very happy. Location counts for a lot in Key West!

While the responses seem rude, this really was a stupid question. Who are you fdr? Are you a millionaire looking for a top resort? Are you a college kid looking for cheap thrills? Are you a midwestern family looking for conservative and cheap? Do you like big and fancy, small and cheap, homey and quaint, bargain prices, in the action, quiet?
Get the idea? You haven't given us a single clue as to how to answer your question.
