Hi, looking into Mohonk today, but from the website, it looks like they may be booked already.
I did let them do this on their own originally and I stayed out of it, but after reading the tripadvisor reviews on the place they chose, I had to get involved. Check out Caesar's Brookdale. I am just sick that I may have to waste an entire summer weekend at that dump.

I actually stayed at Paradise Stream twice 1999.It was really nice. Brookdale is especially for families and don't think it is a dump.

You seem to have a lot of reasons why not to go places, maybe you should not bother going and let the others go and try for another time when you can make plans far enough in advance to get what and where you want to go. IMHO

Mohonk.com or Six Flags Great Adventure Park??? Just a thought....................
I have been to Mohonk in the winter and it is beautiful but not during summer months.
Let us know where you decide!

Debit, you read me wrong - none of those place (except Caesar's) was dismissed by me. All of these dismissed by rest of family:
Philly
Jersey Shore
Hershey
Woodloch
Lake George I think they will say is too far.

I would LOVE to not go, but my father is only 80 once. I will go and deal with it, but I thought we could just do better for the money AND, Caesar's doesn't even have an outdoor pool.

bugs - this place in the Poconos is very nice...not cheesy I promise.

We went to a wedding there a few years ago. I was amazed at how nice it was.

I empathize...my SIL has been starting the "let's go on a family vacation..." thing again. We have ZERO interests in common with them. No thanks.

Try Milford/Hawley, PA, even though it's technically "the Poconos", it's the Northern part and does not have the Poconos feel. We've enjoyed are weekends there from NY. There's a time share place, Tanglewood Resort, that rents out their rooms for weekends, bedroom, kitchen, living room, not the ritz, but it was clean and well priced. Right across the street from Lake Wallenpaupack.

On the lake, there's this place: http://www.ehrhardts.com/index.htm
Very pretty area and there's a really good German restaurant in town,I think it's Alpine or something to that effect.
