What would you do if you could only take a 4 or 5 day East Coast summer vacation?

My husband and I live in MD, about 20 minutes outside of Washington, DC. Due to limited vacation time, we can only take off 4 or 5 days at the end of July, beginning of August. We're both sort of craving a beach environment, and we're thinking Eastern Shore since the drive will the shortest in order to maximize our limited vacation time. We are mostly looking for relaxation and privacy, although the option to find lively entertainment would be nice. A unique place to stay would be fun, but no more than $200/day. Neither of us golfs, but hubby is an avid freshwater fisherman (but not averse to trying his hand at some saltwater fishing)and I enjoy reading, walking, nature, fitness in general, and my newest "hobby," spa treatments! (As our budget can afford, of course.) Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go and stay, given our parameters? Thanks!

If I just wanted to relax, I would pick the closest beach.

Amelia Island, Florida. It is on the east coast of FL and the northern most barrier island in the state. The beaches are beautiful, the town (Fernandina Beach) laid back and charming. Although it is a popular tourist destination (Amelia Island Plantation and a Ritz are there) it doesn't feel touristy. There are many quaint B&B's as well as a fantastic one on the ocean. Finding lodging in your price range shouldn't be a problem.
There are definitely fishing experiences available (intracoastal as well as off shore) and a fantastic State Park that you would enjoy.

Lewes, DE. You've got both Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. You can take the ferry for a day trip over to Cape May. You can fish off the pier, or take a headboat for some ocean angling. Plus, it's just a delightful town. We've been going there off and on for 30 years, and enjoy it as much now as when we first found it.

Bookhall, where do you stay when you go to Lewes? Would you recommend it?
