I have enjoyed reading this message board!!!
Going to NYC in June. I have 4 "fashion" questions:
1.) can I wear a casual long dress or are skirt lengths in June on the short side?
2.) are white pants too "beach-y"
3.) are capri's acceptable in Manhattan?
4.) would slides be a stupid choice if I am planning on subway/train/walking alot?

I don't live in NYC, but visit often, so here's my advice. I'm sure you'll also get lots of other interesting answers on this one from other people.
As far as what you wear in Manhattan, just be yourself. I have seen just about everything on my trips there, so you'll fit in fine. Don't worry.
On the shoes, I would suggest something more comfortable for walking. Perhaps walking shoes, tennis shoes, or something similar. I would think that the slides would start REALLY hurting your feet after awhile. My husband wore hiking boots on his first trip up last week, and his feet hurt so bad by the second day, we had to go buy him some thick soled walking shoes.
Enjoy your trip!

Long skirts/dresses are fine. The skirt lengths in Manhattan are typically just above or just below the knee, or sometimes down to the ankle.
Capris are fine...everyone here wears them.
White pants scream "tourist". I'd leave those at home. If you wore them, you might not be able to sit anywhere (cab, subway, bench) without getting them a little dirty.
As for slides, it depends...can you walk miles in them? If not, you might want to bring more comfy shoes or sandals.
