What to wear? Help!

Leave for Hawaii next week and am taking the whole family on the helicopter tour with no doors. What do we wear? Will a light sweatsuit over over bathing suits be enough and should we wear tennis shoes or water socks? Never done it before so must prepare all the children. I mean is it really cold in the air? We are from a very hot climate, so I wonder how we will do.
Thanks!

You don't say what island unless it's the Big Island. Open door helicopters are pretty breezy. It won't be cold until you fly up into the mountains. Most of the time you won't be more than a couple of thousand feet except for the mountain area.

WE are going to Kauai in 3 weeks and are doing the open door helicopter ride with Inter-Island. In the confirmation they sent us they said to wear sweatshirt and jeans or sweatpants over swimsuites and either sneakers or water shoes/socks. We are doing the waterfall landing/lunch so we will wear water shoes. Hope this helps

It was warm when we went last December. The less the better.

Kaymit, thanks so much for the good info. I realized I never have recieved a confirmation of my reservation. Thanks so much, for the help. Packing for 5 kids is hard enough let alone trying to remember all the extra stuff I need to bring. By the way where I come from they call them water socks. I now crazy but true.
