What to do in S.Florida in Sept?

Will be in Ft. Lauderdale with wife this weekend staying @ Westin on the beach.

Looking forward to swimming and beach but only so much of that can take.

We enjoy boating (but not so much putting around as passengers), sailing, diving and snorkling, good restaurants and good pubs. Also, might be cool to do something in everglades. We will have a car.

Any suggestions as to activities, dining, etc., are much appreciated.

Lion Country Safari, West Palm; Butterfly World, Ft Lauderdale; Viscaya, Miami Zoo, Fairchild Gardens, all in Miami
Wstin (is it the Diplomat?) has a great spa and can set you with golf and fishing

Take the water taxi (get off and on) in Fort Lauderdale to get a great overview. It's America's Venice. You'll cruise by the houses of the rich and famous, and in the downtown areas you'll find the restaurant of your choice among many. We liked the fish and chips spot at the very end. It's a roundtrip deal--inexpensive and delightful.

Also, drive up north on A1A (may be called Atlantic Blvd. there) and find that great Greek Resaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. There's always great music outside.

You mentioned the Everglades. That would be my #1 choice!

Definitely go into the Everglades. Could also do an airboat tour on the outside of the park.

We took an airboat tour of the Everglades and loved it. Used Airboats USA for a private tour and highly recommend it. The guide grew up around the everglades and the tour didn't include any of the commercial attractions such as the alligator farms, etc., and, since the tour was private there weren't other people onboard. We were told to dress for weather approximately 20 degrees cooler than the actual temperature, so if it happens to be cool, make sure you dress appropriately. We plan to go again and use the same company. Have fun!

Yes, the airboat in the Everglades! Our son living in Florida has done that more than once--loves it! And he knows that guide.
