I don't drink very often, but a Sex-on-the-Beach instantly carries me to sunshine and sand. And even though my local health store sells "Blue Sky" soda, I'll always be reminded of drinking it in Santa Fe.

Cosmopolitans anytime, anywhere.
Usually try the local brew and wine (if they have it) when traveling out of the US
Mai Tais in Thailand
Bahama Mama's on Bimini
Did have a Blue Iguana on Aruba, that was quite the drink.

Marilyn, when you order that drink can you just point to it on the menu or must one say it out loud? blush

It is a real drink, but I don't think it's on the menu. My friend who lived in Portland took me to the bar where the drink was supposedly invented. (I think it was Jake's.)

We blithely ordered them on a cold rainy night, only to have the waitress look at us with horror and disgust and say, "A what?!?" Whereupon we explained with some embarrassment what it was.

We went back a few nights later, and timidly asked our waitress if she knew what a Legspreader was. "Of course!" she replied scornfully, "The guy who invented them worked here."

Maybe you had to be there...maybe you had to be drinking Legspreaders...

Mexico: pina colada no alcohol - quite good & you can still see the sunset w/o closing one eye or nodding off
Italy: forget what they called it but
it was just warm steamed milk with a zillion grams of sugar
