What is Ultimate 2 week trip to Hawaii?

Hi, we are planning a 2 week trip to Hawaii. I wanted to know what people thought would be the ultimate trip? Neither my hubby or I have been to Hawaii...What are the best 3 islands to go to (do you think 3 is too many for 2 weeks?) Also, what are the absolute best, top of the line luxury resorts to stay in? need some pointers (Can spend about $200-$400/night.....) any ideas out there?

Thanks!!!

There are so many things to do and each of the islands is so different. Each person's idea of an ultimate Hawaii trip is different. We have been to all of the islands several times and our favorite is Oahu followed by the Big Island, although you'll also find many people are die-hard Maui or Kauai fans. It is hard to compare the islands because the experience on each is quite varied.

I love Maui and Kauai. I'm not a big Oahu fan as it's pretty commercialized. Maui is a great place to stay if your'e looking for scenic beauty as well as many fun things to do, ie. great restaurants, snorkeling and shopping. I think two islands in two weeks would be better. One week in Maui followed by one week in Kauai. We stayed in the Wailea area of Maui - great weather and beautiful resorts. The Grand Wailea is amazing. In Kauai, the Poipu area is the best area because the weather is the best and it is no nice there. We stayed at the Poipu Kapili which is a beautiful condominium. For resorts, the Hyatt in Poipu is the nicest in Kauai. The Sheraton in Poipu is nice too. DON'T stay in theresort in Lihue - the Kauai Marriott Resort - it's in an industrial area and the views are of old factories. Kauai is a great place to go if you are interested in relaxing and outdoor activities. It is very mellow there. Have fun!!!!

I vote for staying at The Hyatt in Poipu on Kauai. Kauai is my favorite of all the islands. Enjoy!

Spend 3 days in Honolulu. Then spend 3 days in Lanai (at one of the 5 star hotels). And then spend the rest of the time relaxing in Kuai. (pick your favorite 5 star hotel)

$200 - $400 won't get you into all the top of the line hotels in Hawaii but you can stay in some nice places.

If you go to three islands do 5 on Maui 5 on Kauai and 4 on BI.

If you want to go to 2 islands do Maui and Kauai.

Maui = Four Seasons
Kauai = Princeville unless it's rainy season then Hyatt.

If this is a once in a lefetime trip do three islands. If you plan on going back to Hawaii some time do two islands.

Although all the islands are different Maui and Oahu have a lot in commom, and Kauai and the Big Island have some similarities. If you are doing two islands pick one from Oahu / Maui and one from Kauai / Big Island.
