What hotel blunders do you whine about?

One of the poster said that chefs work for the hotel and don't have time to cater to the individual needs of its guests. Isn't that the whole definition of a hotel, which is in the business of serving guests????? If I pay good money (and plenty of it) for a steak that I ordered medium rare, I expect it to be medium rare, not whatever the chef had time to prepare. If I wanted my food standard and overcooked, I'd eat at McDonald's every day.

In Paris I checked into a 3 star hotel. When I got to my room I noticed that in the bathroom the bathtub was literally in the shape of a square. I love to take baths to relax so obviously this would not do. I went down to the front desk and very politely said "I love my room but I have a question. Are all the tubs shaped like a square?" The front desk clerk laughed and said "NO". I then asked if it would be possible to be moved to another room with a long tub.
He was very accomodating. I thanked him and explained that I like to soak in a tub after a long day. I tipped him as I was very appreciative of his assistance. I have found that a little diplomacy goes a long way. Hope this helps.
