in light of the food and travel conversations, i'd like to respond to gail about what to put in her phyllo triangles!
i make ground turkey empanadas with phyllo dough. anything that goes into an empanada can go into phyllo dough triangles. you'll find lots of ideas for fillings if you google empanadas..

corwin - thanks for the great suggestion.
Regarding connection between food and travel - are you implying that there is anything else in life besides food and travel - either better shared with people you care about.

OSB ...really? I agreed to meet jetset & matnik in Hawaii?
Wow! I know things have been really crazy here lately but I must really be losing it. Gosh...I hope I didn't buy the tickets...cause I don't remember where I put em!
Maybe that was jetset & Bayougal?

gail - not in the triangles but the tiny phyllo cups. you can bake them in mini muffin tins or buy them frozen. after baking your cups put them in airtight bag until you're on the boat, otherwise they might get soggy. so- this is for 36 pieces. make salmon mousse
1 8oz philly cream cheese (you could go to phila to get this to keep it travel related)
1 cup finely shredded cheddar
1 tuna sized can skinless boneless salmon, drained - 7oz
1/2 tsp dried dillweed
1/4 tsp lemon pepper seasoning
1/2 cup ranch dressing
beat together all but ranch. stir in ranch. spoon mix into piping bag or into phyllo cups. pretty when piped into cups. this is one of favorite apps for a group and its kind of a secret so don't tell anybody....
