Convertible. Don't need the rough drive of a jeep when you're trying to have fun with your sweetie. Convertible has a trunk that can be used to stow your possessions, though not fool proof, is a wee bit better than the openness of a jeep. You won't need a 4 wheel drive.

convertible.
just got back from Maui and it's amazing how often the weather changes when you drive to different parts of the island. We often had to put up the top as we were entering a rainier side of the island. We witnessed one guy with a jeep stuck in an absolute downpour because he couldn't put the top up. I was definitely pleased to have the convertible and we went everywhere with 0 problems.

get the convertible. we've never gotten a jeep and never really felt the urge to have one, even on the road to/around hana. convertible is fine, plus like other posters have pointed out, getting that roof on those jeep tops is a waste of valuable vacation time!
have fun!
