going to Vegas in December?

We have been to Vegas twice in December. The first time was for New Year's Eve, which was a big mistake. They close the Strip from Bellagio to around Treasure Island and the street is filled with rowdy teens and 20 somethings. Plus they jack the rates up about 3 to 4 times the normal amount and require a minimum number of nights. We went another time for three nights right after Christmas, but before the hoards of kids arrived. It was a great time to go except a lot of the shows were dark. The weather both times was cool with highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. It gets cold fast after dark in the desert! Enjoy!

Tracey,
We spent last Christmas Eve & Day in LV last year, a total of 5 days which began the weekend before xmas. It was definately different. There were lots of families w/ kids around and a more globally diverse group than when we went in July.
The weather was in the 60's and sunny during the day. As soon as the sun goes down, it cooled off quickly (to 30's). When we were out and about, I had a wrap with me that was handy after dark. It does get chilly.
We played golf one day and had a 1pm tee for par 3 course (Angel Park). It was a fun course with 12 - 3 par holes all fashioned after famous 3 pars. The weather was perfect for the golf. It was sunny, but not hot and I was comfortable in long sleeves.
We ventured over to Hoover Dam for one of the days. Very cool if you haven't seen it before.
We made a big mistake about Christmas dinner and didn't plan very well, so had a problem there, but enjoyed a nice Christmas eve dinner off the strip.
I don't know where you plan on staying, but we were at the Venetian. It was great.
Hope you have a good time.

(Didn't you ask this same question a couple days ago?)
Average high is 57, average low 34 that time of year, 0.1 inches of snow in LV each December, 1/3 of days are cloudy, and 1/10 days see rain in December.
8 days in LV is a loooong time, especially when the weather isn't all that nice.

Ummmmmm....something wrong with your reading comprehension, Steamer?
I believe the above answers explain that the weather is not great, many of the shows are on hiatus, NYE may not be the best time to be in LV and on and on.
What else were you expecting to find out?

I've been to LV at the end of the year.
We went for 12/31-1/2 a few years ago.
It was really cold and pretty gray most days. Even snowed a little bit outside of the city one night.
There were a lot of people there since it was New Year's Eve and all.
I don't think I'd do it again though.

Hi Tracey,
We have gone to Las Vegas 3-4 days before Christmas for the last 4 years. Two years the weather was really cold and windy and two years it was in the 70's. I always bring my heavy winter coat just in case. It seems to be less crowded than at other times of the year.

My husband and I are planning to celebrate our first anniversary in Vegas between Christmas and NYE (don't want to be there then - coming home on the 30th). Don't much care about the weather - coming to GAMBLE!!! What are the crowds like - too many kids? Prices are still high - espect they'll come down. Thanks for any into - anyone want to talk about NYE...great! We might just end up staying!

I usually head down to Vegas every Dec. around the 21st for 2 or 3 days. This is the slowest week of the year for them and room rates are very low. Hotels are not at capacity and it's much easier to get on tables that are $5 and $10 minimums instead of the weekend normals of $15 now. Weather is pretty mild, can be warm during the day/cool at night- I always take a jacket.
