What we listen to is determined by the time of day.
Morning: oldies fom 50's to 80's, love JUMP! by Van Halen and Carly Simon's YOUR SO VAIN. And all of the above.
Late AM: Jeff Foxworthy's YOU MAY BE A REDNECK. OR Weird Al's greatest.
Afternoon: back to oldies.
Evening: switch to something soothing and classical like flute by the sea or classical guitar, we like gregorian chants too. Gets us ready to slow down for the night.
Of course the kids have their own CD players and listen to 'their' music.

Let's see...Twenty Six Miles Across the Sea for trips to Catalina
..anything Beach Boys for Santa Cruz
, Jazz for vineyard drives, maybe a little Huey Lewis for the freeway. Still love Elvin Bishop for weekends. We have a great Doris Day CD for the Ca Delta along with CABLE Radio.

Tend to listen to a lot of British House music for long trips. The Hell that southern California radio has become (every station is now owned by Clear Channel) has me burning CDs as fast as I can. Now I need to get some Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway and Me'shell Ndegéocello on a CD....
If I'm in the mood for weird music to drive fast to, I go for 50s straight-ahead jazz. Examples: Sarah Vaughan ripping through "Cherokee" and "How High the Moon" with Cannonball Adderley, or Anita O'Day steamrolling through a Mach 20 reading of "Them There Eyes" with Oscar Peterson, or the Miles Davis Sextet playing "Milestones". Top-down, really loud-- nothing better for driving down PCH!

On nice sunny days it has to be Garth Brooks Double Live cranked up with the windows down. On the way to the beach it has to be anything by Enya. Driving home from work Tom Lykis all the way. (Ok, so he's talk radio not tunes, Oh, well. He makes the drive fun!)
