Yosemite to SF on a Friday

Californians: what would be your recommended route into San Francisco from Yosemite on a Friday. I suspect it will be during rush hour. Should we come from the north or south?

You will be going the opposite direction to the commute rush, which is going out of the city. Take 120 through Tracy which is the most direct way, takes about 4 hours.

That's what I was going to suggest - 120/205/580 and then over the bridge into SF.

Traffic will be travelling the opposite direction as people try to leave the Bay Area for the weekend, or just get to their homes in the suburbs.

The traffic won't be light by any means, but as the others said, you'll be heading against the flow and it shouldn't be bad whichever route you choose. Barring a big wreck or something we can't predict, 120/205/580 is probably the easiest.

I agree with the above. Would listen to AM 740 for traffic reports just in case something comes up so you may be able to alter your course.
