West Point lodging recommendations

We're going to a West Point football game this fall because my nephew is a student there. Does any one have a recommendation for someplace close to stay? We don't need fancy, but do want clean. Is that possible for under $125/night?

There's a Holiday Inn Express just outside the gates. The town is "Highland Falls" if you need to do a search.

I have no idea what the rates are, but what about staying at The Thayer Hotel, right on the grounds of West Point?

I had a wonderful dinner there, many years ago. The cadets are the servers and their impecable manners area fond memory.

The Hotel Thayer is usually around $200 or more per night, it is a great place, but has gotten pricey! If you're there on a Sunday, it's a great place for brunch.

Check out hotels near Stewart airport in Newburgh. Several of the newer hotels there include a Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and a Homewood suites.

From where will you be coming?

Other options a little longer drive but really not too far include near NYS Thruway exit 15/Suffern-Mahwah, Exit 14/Nanuet, Exit 12 & 11 Nyack.

A search on google maps of "hotels near Nyack, NY" etc will show you specific hotels.

For the weekend in October, the Holidan Inn Express is $299/night and the Thayer is $309/night. We're flying into Stewart, but would like to stay as close to West Point as we can (price permitting)

It's 15miles of mostly open space or old, old NYS towns from Stewart to West point. You won't get a selection of hotel choices any closer than the area around Stewart.

You're going to have a hard time finding anything decent for under $125 in October. It's a simple case of supply and demand, and home games during the football season are peak weekends for hotels and motels in that area.
