West Hollywood to Disneyland
We are staying in the Best Western Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood in July. Could anyone give me an idea of how long it takes to get from WH to Disneyland and is California Adventure worth another day in Anaheim? Travelling with 2 19yo girls.

Thanx tracys2cents. I search through many web sites and about 15 books before I came up with this hotel. Figured my daughter and her friend would have a good chance of spotting some famous people here. Also heard there is alot going on around Sunset Plaza.

40 mins?!?! Maybe if you are traveling at 3:00 am. You are looking at least an hour on a good day.
Suec, you have picked a good spot. Not too sure you will see that many famous people but hey, you never know. However, my recommendation would be to do what you want to do in Hollywood and move hotels to the Anaheim/Disney area. I would definitely recommend CA Adventure. You can buy a 2 day pass that allows access to both parks. Also, I really think the girls would like Downtown Disney, especially on a warm summer night.

I believe you selected a good hotel for your purpose. We stayed 3 days in Hollywood last year at the BW Hollywood Plaza Inn, 2011 N. Highland Avenue. It was nothing special except for the location. It was an easy 5 minute walk to Kodak Center (I think that's what it was called)where the Academy Awards are now presented. and the Walk of Fame. Also Paramount Studios, Pinks HotDogs, & the Hollywood Bowl were within walking distance. I had heard before our visit now dirty & rundown Hollywood was but found that was not true. We found the area clean with a lot less vagants then we were told would be lurking about. Never felt unsafe any time of the day. We drove to & visited California Adventures (been to Disney several years ago). It was an easy off & on to the freeway & the trip was about an hour. Many lanes with a lot of traffic so pay attention. If you want to see movie stars, I would opt to stay in Hollywood. I liked Hollywood so would stay there anyway & do the easy drive to Anaheim.

I would not pay extra for a ticket to California adventure. Disneyland has been having two for one deals which gets you in to both parks for the Price of one.
You may prefer to take the girls to the third street promenade in Santa Monica to walk around and people watch or the Grove which is not that far from where you are staying.

Those Two-fer deals on offer right now will not be available in July, and require a Southern California address. I assume you enjoy theme parks or would not be going. A second day is worthwhile, in my opinion. I would try to find a package deal (before leaving) that allows for "Park hopping". The 50th Anniversary is July 15-17 so you may find the park very crowded. Try the Disney official website, your local Auto club, or Mouseplanet for leads on package deals.

Thanx for all your help. Already have BW sunset plaza booked for a week. We'll have to take our chances with the traffic to Disneyland. We are also going to Universal studios and warner bros. Anybody know how long from sunset plaza?

Universal and WB are short drives from SP, maybe 20-25 min, but there are some tricky merges for people not familiar with the path, so be sure to get precise directions from the friendly hotel staff. If you don't want to drive, you can take the bus/subway to Universal. #2 bus in front of the hotel (ask driver for a $3 day pass which will also cover the metro subway rides) just a few minutes to Highland Avenue(you'll see a McDonalds on the right/south)...then walk north (towards the mtns)up to Hollywood Blvd, cross the crosswalk and turn left to enter the subway which is just a 4 minute ride to Universal.
Another easy bus trip with teenagers is Westwood/UclA area...lots of shopping, restaurants, and in July maybe a few movie premieres happening at night. #2 bus the other direction(west)down Sunset Blvd through Beverly Hills until you see UCLA hospital/Westwood Blvd. (Note there is more than one bus called #2 for some reason, so ask the bus driver if he stops in Westwood if the bus doesn't say UCLA on the front).
Sorry if this sounds confusing but print it out and it will make sense when you're at the bus stop!

To tracys2cents: you seem to know alot about LA. Do you know of anyway to get tickets to any premiers? Also, does the bus run all night? Is it pretty safe to take at night? i.e. if we take the bus to Universal studios and want to come back late, will the bus be running? Thanx for all your help.
