weather in February, where to go

We live in Belgium and have a week off in February to visit the US. We have been to Florida before . Where else would the weather be very nice and warm (except for LA) at that time of year????

africa_lover, fly to Las Vegas and visit Death Valley. You can hike on sand dunes and feel like you are in Africa since you love Africa

Africa_lover, we are not gamblers too and don't even like Las Vegas. Fly there, rent a car and drive to your destination. It took us about three hours to get to Death Valley but try to avoid driving to and in Las Vegas Friday evening. It was a nightmare. Average high temeperature in Death Valley in February is 72 degrees and low average 46 degrees. Record high 97 and record low 30. We were there in November and the weather was perfect. We're going back to Death Valley in the end of March

Weather.com has a trip planning feature, where you input a temperature range and choose USA to find the spots where it will be warm.

http://www.weather.com/activities/tr...r/?from=travfl

If you are looking for 70's farenheit, you have the Southwestern desert areas, Florida & Hawaii. If you're looking for 80's, Hawaii may be your only choice.

Las Vegas is not that warm in February. In fact, many resorts close their swimming pools during that time.

Good luck!

Death Valley swimming pool won't be closed. it is fed by a hot srping and has always temperature over 80 degrees. You may also try San Diego area. What are you interested in? Hiking, shopping?

death valley is nice to see. three nights would be good. we stayed at the furnace creek ranch which has nice basic rooms with a great pool. the furance creek inn is more upscale. be sure to do the tour at scotty's. cheap and very interesting.
then, you could head onto vegas (it's only about 2 hours away i think), san diego or palm springs for a few nights.

Palm Springs, Ca and Scottsdale, Arizona can be quite good.
But even better...go to Mexico.

lvk,
thanks for the link to the weather.com vacation planner. This is a very useful link.

Pat2003,
what we like to do(we that is:me, my sister in law and our 2daughters of each 19 years old is shopping (outletmall shopping) and some sightseeing and sunbathing.

We have got 1 week away from our men and just plan on doing real women things.

Thanks for all the input, as I can see, the options are limited,
Florida, California(LA), or Las Vegas and surroudings.
I'll let you know what we decide ..

Consider also driving from Las Vegas to San Diego. There are many possibilities for sightseeing on the way including a stop in Primm, NV for shopping in all those outlet stores. Never been there but heard so many comments from Europeans we met on our recent trip in Death Valley

Fly into Las Vegas spend a couple of days rent car drive to Grand Canyon(4 hours) hike the canyon stay at Phantum ranch on the bottom of canyon one night Hike out next day. Drive to Sedona AZ,(2 Hours?) spend a couple of days there hiking, Mountain Biking or shopping, and head to Phoenix or even Tucson AZ.Or go in reverse order and end trip in Las Vegas. Weather might be an issue if you want it warm or hot in Las Vegas/ Northern Arizona southern Arizona(Tucson) would be predictably warm. Las Vegas has a lot see and do even if you do not gamble.

buckeye45, do you think February is a good time for hiking to Phanthom Ranch?
As you may noticed Africa_lover is looking for a place to do a little a shopping (outletmall shopping), some sightseeing and sunbathing.
I still think that Primm would be a good stop, from what I heard, as you will find many high class outlet stores
