What's your take on airport parking? Still best to deal direct?

Booked a Hilton hotel for the day of the reunion. It's got a kitchenno signed up to bring chicken enchiladas. Again, I'm at their mercy with the whole early check in thing. We get into buffalo at 7 something. Then will go to grocery and see about getting in early. Let them know on my special request that's what I needed.

Found an airbnb that approved an 8 am check in. But let him know I booked with hotel after seeing there is a $400 deposit. He replied they only charge that for damages.

as well as the hotel deposit. i get paid again that day and will have the funds deposited, but not until noon az time...

now, so you arent confused, am using this as a place, like ive already been doing...to tie up loose ends. feel free if you have suggestions...BUT what i dont want or need right now is any attacks on my character. its ok for you not to understand, some spend a lot of time trying....

ive been using a spiral note card type thing to try and keep track of everything i need...flight numbers and times, etc. is there a better way?

just looking back at posts...
i believe the couch will pull out...if not, it will make a bed...my son is ok with that.

the reason i chose this hotel was for the location...and when i booked instead with the new yorker,it was evident by the rsponses that was a mistake...and they would much rather the roosevelt...but i and my boyfriend really wanted a room with a door that closes, for obvious reasons. there wasnt any other recommandations made at that point...so, with my tunnel vision...went with the rossevelt...although i did look into trump hotel...way over my price range.

also, when someone said they had a problem getting the hotel to go with the price of hotels.com. thats why you just pay for it ahead of time so when you get to the hotel, they just give you a key...and make copies of you ID and credit/debit card.

sorry, if it seems random in my reponses. didnt realize i missed questions.

"Oh, and I was still in sticker shock over the price of the suite at the Roosevelt that I booked...i think it may be comparable to a room at trump hotel... Any ideas on that???? Hoping I'm not opening up pandoras box."

that would have been a goot time to tell me about other options...but im happy with the choice.

i've been helpful people. People of answered many of your questions, but you continue to post random responses that you think are responding to a particular post but as there's no way to connect to your responses to the posts you're answering it makes for a very muddled thread. Most people have learned to "at least part of the post they're responding to so that we understand the point you're trying to make.

And honestly it's not up to us to suggest every hotel you should be looking at. If you would stated a clear question –" what's the best way to find a reasonably priced hotel suite with a door that closes – our current reservation is for the Roosevelt at 400 and something dollars –" people would've offered many suggestions. But you seem to be making decisions on your own based on information that you haven't gotten from anyone here.

I will admit I've continued to watch this post to see what new problems are going to arise. But I realize that's not helping anyone. If you going to any other site besides hotels.com, you would've seen many options for an actual sweet and could've made a choice between several hotels. But the way you phrased it was should you choose the Roosevelt or the New Yorker. That's a pretty specific question.

Don't want to pile on -- but are you sure the hotel you booked in Buffalo has a 'kitchen' - as in full kitchen with stove, oven, baking pans, etc?

A lot of hotels will have say a microwave and mini fridge or maybe a basic kitchenette.

Many of your posts seem sort of stream of consciousness and it is hard to keep track of what you are actually doing - maybe you've covered the kitchen thing up thread?

yes, youre right....i could have phrased it differently.

but do take offense by what you just said regarding the part where you say that im making decisions based on my own and not on the information ive gotten from here.
that simply is not true...

a side note...my ipad is not allowing me to cut and paste once i already into the post...

anyhow,

doug_Stallings pointed out that if I take a private car from the airport to hotel, it would benefit me. That's what Ive decided to do. Ellenem suggested car services. I chose Carmellimo based on her suggestion. I've already booked my car rides to and from the hotel, suggested by those on this post not to wait to arrange them.

based on what Doug_Stallings had said, I will be going to the hotel to drop off my luggage first and taking the Staten Island ferry because he said in his opinion it will get us close enough to see the Statue of Liberty. Thursdayd also said he believed it to be an excellent way to see the statue.

ellenem gave specific directions how to get from the hotel to the staten island ferry...i willl be following those as if it were a treasure map...which she also included a map of the subway.

I will be visiting the Brooklyn botanical garden and the museum next door...again thanks to Doug_Stallings who let me know that it is well within reason to fit this in.

following again what ellenem showed me on how to get back to the hotel will get us there in time to rest a little and refresh for the broadway show. we will enjoy the sounds and sights on the way to the theatre well in advance as to not have to rush to get there. I know where I will be sitting because of the Gershwin theatre layout, thank you ellenem. and I know what to wear and not wear, because of Doug.

so...you should see that there are plenty of decisions made BECAUSE of getting them from this site...

and, really if you are only following this thread to see what other "problems" will come up...I give you permission to relieve yourself of that duty...

janisj thanks for bringing that up and yes, I made sure that it is a kitchen with an oven and a stove. they say all the rooms have a fully equipped kitchen and i looked at the pictures that show a stove and oven. its actually in Greece/Rochester. that would be such a let down though if it didnt. they also have a complimentary grocery shopping service but i will take care of that on my own.

Ur, even if they have a stove with an oven, they may not have the baking equipment you need, in fact, I think it's pretty unlikely they will, so I would check on that in advance.

I am trying to imagine the luggage... talk about everything but the kitchen sink. Aren't there relatives who can supply missing equipment? Or, for that matter, a kitchen?

First of all, I've read this whole thread and all the answers have been helpful, some more than others. I understand that this is swirling around in your head and it's tough to plan a trip to a city you don't know. *ellenem* gave you some great suggestions. Try to print these out so you'll have the train directions with you. Don't forget that there will be numerous miscellaneous expenses you'll deal with, such as breakfast, souvenirs, etc. Magnets are good souvenirs because they don't take up much space and you can look at them on your fridge! Don't worry about safety. Ask long as you watch your wallets and purses, you'll be OK. Be vigilant, not afraid. Do try the subway, I still get confused in it, but it's good, fast transit. There are people in the ticket booths who can help. Do walk--this is the quintessential NYC experience. Often one can walk somewhere faster than taking a cab depending on traffic. One thing I've learned about travel--it won't happen the way you want, go with the flow and enjoy the ride. With respect to the reunion in Rochester--buy the throw away pans at the grocery for the enchiladas. Reduce your luggage and stuff you have to think about. Remember the other tourists in NYC aren't interested in your outfits. It will be very very humid. My daughter has lived in New York City and Brooklyn for the last 5.5 years, so I have visited many times. You'll love the Staten Island ferry for the Statue of Liberty. That is how my kids saw it the first time. Enjoy your trip and report back!

urreliefishere, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but are you 100% sure the hotel has an oven? A room with full-size refrigerator, multi-burner stove top, microwave, and dishwasher is not uncommon, especially in Hilton suite properties. They'll usually supply dishware and flatware too, along with some items you can request at the front desk. But an actual oven isn't as common, expect in penthouse-type suites in luxury hotels or in locations geared towards long-term stays. I'm just wondering if it's possible the oven you saw in the photos was actually the dishwasher?

It's very possible I'm wrong, and for your sake, I hope I am. And I agree with StacyB above about just buying disposable pans if you plan on cooking in the room. But I would really suggest double checking on the oven. Often when a hotel says "fully equipped kitchen" they just mean it includes the appliances I listed above.

Just to add, either way, have you considered just picking something up for the reunion? Or as also mentioned above, seeing if you can use a family member's kitchen?

Looking at the Hilton's and Hilton family hotels in Greece/ Rochester I don't see any with ovens. Homewood suites has a microwave and fridge but that's it. I've actually never been in any Hilton family hotel that had an ovenand I've been in quite a few of them across the chain.
