Just reserved my cars on the Carmel app...very easy and fun. I chose to pay in the car...I got the deluxe sedan for $60 & they say tolls & 20%gratuity will most likely come to $80...I chose the deluxe over the luxury even though the picture looks the same?

Would it be worth the $25-$30 to get a ride to the theatre or no?

Depending on when you leave the hotel for the theater, you may be stuck in traffic if you go close to the time. We got burned on that years ago. If you're going to have an early dinner nearby, and can get there by 530 or six, then taking a cab or an Uber might work.

Ok!!!! Just PAID for my room!!!. I'm shell shocked!!! I know I used to have rent less than that for an entire month.

In my special requests, I did request earlier check in...

Good thing we are bringing the tent for the reunion... We may need it for the rest of our trip!!! Only kidding.

I have forgotten about parking at the airport for a week when we leave....

Still can't believe it!!!

Everything is coming together... Need to go get my nails done. They are over due.... Thanks to everyone again.

I'm soooooooooo happy!

And to back track a little... Should we just do the Staten island ferry after the airport? Or is the itinerary good as it is?

Walking the streets of Manhattan is part of the experience. Don't bother with a car to the theater - just leave yourselves enough time to get to the theater with plenty of time to spare, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of NYC.

I just don't know if we will have a lot of luggage.... And maybe if we just get the Staten island ferry thing outta the way right at 1st... It will be later than the morning and closer to a more reasonable time according to the hotel they could justify letting us check in early...11?

Or not?

I can understand if you're tired of me and my questions.

It is not about reasonable time for the hotel, it is about whether they will have a room clean and ready for you early in the morning. If they were not full the night before a room 'might' be available. If full, they will have to wait until guests vacate and the housekeeping staff can clean the room. Too many variables.

& no, not tired of you or your questions.

We all love to travel, and I know that I have learned a lot from others who share that interest.

And I'm also wondering what to do about the original Rochester tickets... I've read online others that get charged a cancel fee charged to their credit card from cheapfares4u... I've already accepted the loss of the money I spent, but ask trying to keep that capped at where it is instead of going deeper in the hole.

Sounds like yet another reason to book direct with the airlines.... Why bother to cancel if it will cost you and there will be no refund?

Kind of confusing that you keep putting random comments in response to questions that have been asked several post to go. I think what you're talking about with the Roosevelt is what they will put on your credit card as a hold while you were there overnight. I looked through the hotels.com website and didn't see anything about $50. There is a resort fee of $25 which is added to the total price you're paying. But did you book on hotels.com or did you book at the Roosevelt itself? I would confirm with the hotel actually in any case of how much they're going to put on your card as a hold.
And I think some of the challenges you're having is that you look for the cheapest fare. Without comparing it to what the airlines or the hotel sites charge directly. In this case going through a site that is if save you a few dollars has wound up costing you hundreds.

My rate with Hotels.com for a king 560sqft on July 21 is $467.31
Hotel website has the same room listed for that night as $519...

Cheaper on hotels.com

Not only that, but every ten rooms that I rent, i get the average of those ten rooms on a free night. After spending the night in NYC, my average on 9 nights is $127... Need only one more night to get a room worth over a hundred dollars free. This will be my 4th night collected in less than a year. Maybe you should check it out.

And on my side I see that where it says the $25 a day resort fee, but right above that is mandatory fees and says the hotel will charge me a deposit of $50 USD at check in.

So... I'm not sure how you could say that in this case it has cost me hundreds... Unless of course you're talking about the Rochester tickets... It was a mistake made because I didn't know there was another Rochester. Same thing may have happened direct with the airline. My question about that was that I was wondering if somebody knew what the benefit of cancelling those tickets could be.i admit I don't know everything... It just wasn't making any sense to me and that's why I put it out there for someone to show me something I didn't know...i appreciate your response and am glad you see it the same way.

The challenges I face are those of an Arizona native traveling across the country with my son to a place I've never been to that in fact can be dangerous... I'm just trying to cover all my bases... And again I appreciate the help... The original question is to help me make the most of my trip.i started it 2 months ago and believe that I've become more educated and have made more of a trip that began with just wanting to see the statue of liberty. Now it includes a night in Manhattan, a Broadway show, the Brooklyn botanical garden and the museum next door.

I'm very familiar with hotels.com. I really had a problem having the hotel match the rate at hotels.com, Expedia etc. Plus we are aware that there's an extra cost for a rollaway bed – it looks like your suite only has the one bed.

And if you're going to spend the money for sweet I'm not sure why you chose this particular hotel. There's a number of other very nice hotels who speak prices would be cheaper than 467+35, and might actually include a bed plus a rollaway bed.

And yes the hundreds of dollars I spoke of was the difference that you're paying having to buy new tickets versus the tickets you already have. If you purchase tickets from the actual airline site, it would've been much clearer that you were buying tickets for Rochester Minnesota.

The other pieces that I never buy airplane tickets from any place else except the airlines website. If something goes wrong or there's a missed connector whatever I want to be able to deal directly with the airline and not with an online TravelAgent. Even good ones are limited in what they will do if there's a problem. And given that you have connections etc. if anything does go haywire you're kind of at the mercy of who you booked with.

And the way you're talking about this trip makes it sound like you're going to Mars. You're traveling halfway across the country to one of the most famous tourist cities in the world.

So...i called the hotel? I pressed the option for reservations... So may be a call center. Anyhow,i explained that I booked through hotels.com and asked about the charge/hold that is placed for incidentals. He quoted $100. I let him know that on the hotels.Com website it states $50 for the deposit... He said the $100 is customary... So, I'll just plan for that. He did say though that it can be a credit card or a debit card, but can NOT be a pre paid card. Just to let you know.

This. You're flying United, right? Not an airline I use, but if you go to their website and start typing Rochester, it will immediately give you the two choices.

NYC, especially in the tourist areas, is a lot safer than it used to be. Plus, you speak the language.
