Washington DC Hotel Advice

Booked at St. Gregory mid feb with husband for 2 nights. Got a rate of $354 for both nights inc. full breakfast one day and jazz brunch another and also includes parking...
Is this place a dump? I saw on Tripadvisor its highly rated but I have to wonder...
Was also thinking...maybe Jury's in Dupont Circle...we like to get a drink before dinner or at the end of day of sightseeing..
We would be open to other suggestions...

A few years ago my family stayed at One Washington Circle Hotel close to George Washington University. We found the hotel comfortable, inexpensive for D.C. prices, and convenient to Georgetown and Metro. Check Expedia for this property. I believe travelers have given it high ratings. My only complaint was the front desk staff was a bit patronizing to us. They looked to be college interns so weren't vested in the property like a 'full-time" employee would have been. Otherwise the staff was outstanding.

Jury's is right at Dupont Circle on 19th btw P&Q. St. Greg, about three blocks south at M and 20th. There are places to get drinks (and dinners) in and all around both hotels.

I have not stayed there but it certainly does not appear to be a dump from the outside. Mid-Feburary is certainly low season for tourist travel, so I would expect that plays into the price you got. That said, while $172 per night is a good rate, I would not consider it bargain basement either. Relax and celebrate your good fortune . . .

I live in the DC area and have stayed 2x at St Gregory (most recently a month ago). It is not a dump. It is located in a business district rather than a more lively district and can be quiet at night - but is very well located for public transport and good neighborhood visits.

You can have a drink before dinner right across the street at David Greggory.

My husband and I stayed at the St. Gregory earlier this month. We got a great rate of $75/night through quickbook.com We both liked the place. The desk clerk upgraded us to a suite at no additional charge, so I am not sure what a regular room might look like. You entered our room into a sitting area with desk, couch and tv, then there was a galley kitchen which lead into the bedroom. There were no doors seperating the 'rooms', other than the bathroom, of course, which was fairly large. The hotel itself was about 10 minutes to the metro stops (Du Pont or Foggy Bottom).
I would recommend the hotel, but I would definitely try to get a better rate than you have been quoted so far. There was a bar in the lobby that always seemed to be busy, and several bars and restaurants within a short walk.

Have a nice trip.

I'm not sure what the rates are for the Four Seasons in Georgetown, but it is a beautiful hotel with a great fitness center/pool. It is also located in the heart of Georgetown, so there are many restaurants/bars/shops withing walking distance.

I think the rate i got is pretty good...definately not a great as $75.00/nt! But the $354 is for two nights and breakfast/brunch and parking which alone is almost $20 bucks/day...so, I think I did ok...unfortately the Four seasons was not in our budget...this is a quick getaway for us...
But is this hotel really 10 min. from a metro stop? geez...i thought it was closer...i may have to rethink this based on the fact it might be like 20 degrees!
